Description AVATAR Fan Art - Character - 3D Render

PLEASE COMMENT BEFORE YOU

Avatars are hybrids combined using the DNA of native Na'vi living on Pandora and Humans.

Avatars have some different anatomical features compared to the Na'vis. Avatar's have 5 finger hands instead of 4 finger hands.

Direct Maxon Cinema4D R11.5 render without any postwork.
M4 based 3D mesh using advanced morphs and other modifieres. I did some mayor improvements on the body and head morphs. Eyes, Nose and Ears are now Na'vi like. The body morph is adjusted. It was a challenge to get the Na'vi eyes. Believe me! Resolution is 2000x200 pixel but I can render it in any higher resolution.

Advanced and complex light and reflection setup.
Dont ask me about the render time!
Thanks to Messange-Bleue-Stock for the base texture [link]

A closeup showing the wireframe is here: [link]

You will not believe it!
My wife organized a second trip to the movie theater.
This time we had the chance to see it in 3D!

Amazing. You have to go to watch this movie.
There is so much philosophy so much sense about life and what realy matters.... It is a MUST!

Okay, you and your wife have convinced me. That will be placed on the top of my "must see" list. Ooh, 3D? That sounds like it would be so awesome in 3D. The scenery that I've seen in the previews looks gorgeous in 2D. Now, I need to make some sales at ebay so I can get to the movies.

* to you and your wife* Thankies!

No not yet. I was planning on going this weekend but the blizzard we are having around here has pushed it back yet again. I'm gonna try next weekend. Wish me luck. If I get to see it, I'll definitely let you know. Thanks for asking.

Did you create the 3D model? I have taken up learning how to use blender...that head ache aside, I am looking to try to implement as much of Pandora in an environment that that allows you to explore it more freely. (Bethesda's Oblivion to be exact.)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

mike-reiss In reply to LenAlox [2010-01-15 19:47:34 +0000 UTC]

It is an M4 based mesh. You can see it here: [link]

I think its beyond gorgeous. My only lil tweak is that the head just seems a tad wide to me, but I could be loosing my mind too so lots of love.

This is very good! but i have to say alot of the people who do fanart of the navi make a common mistake by not making their limbs longer or leaner. But other than that very well done its quite different

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mike-reiss In reply to kaylla07 [2010-01-15 19:48:54 +0000 UTC]

You are shure right. It was a challenge to get a human base mesh this close to an Na'vi Avatar. There is still potential of further improvement... Thanks for your comment!

I would love to. But you need a digital painter for that.
It is much to complex to adjust a 3d mesh to your face characteristics. Even I am not done with the female version.
I am just working on it. Sorry I can not help more...
