I photographed a Memorial Service for a 25 year old soldier this summer. This is one of the images. I felt it captures the emotion.I have such admiration for our Veterans past, current and future. It is almost always very young men and women who join the Military and danger is never far away. Thank you each and every one.. every single one of you.

My grandfather is a WW2 vet and he actually served in Laura Bush's father's battalion in Germany. Laura Bush's father died 2 years ago but she invited my grandfather and my family (not me but my mom and her siblings) to the White House on Veterans Day and they celebrated the veterans of this great country in style!
I don't care what people think: these people are the real heroes. I see so many soldiers come through my store and I just pray that I get to see them again. I tell each and everyone of them how proud I am of them.
It's hard to not cry looking at a striking image like this. God bless America and her soldiers.

Hehehe! Yeah, but it's nice to get to know people when you don't live near them. I enjoy talking and chatting... especially about art. Don't get that chance too often... sadly.
Yeah, life is well. Been working on a lot of art lately but no jobs thus far. Just trying to get my work and my portfolio up to speed with what companies want.

I agree, friends on line are my best! I meet so few artists in real life. Perhaps I just don't get out enough.
It's important to get the portfolio into a shape that reflects what you can do.. and what will sell.
Me? Well, I do some people photos for CDs and promotional shots. I have had a few people buy 'art' photos too. Mostly I make very little money with photography. I think I should be doing more but just don't get it done..or promoted properly I guess. Otherwise, life is good.

Not a lot of people claim to be artists in public. It's sad! Own up to it! Be proud! But true... I meet lots of artists online. I love seeing them in the flesh.

I once watched a friend walk up to the casket of a fellow friend and colleague, straight and tall. He saluted crisply, the broke down.

I've been to a lot of services because my husband plays Taps (as a volunteer) for military funerals and memorials. Each one is so moving, so full of honor and if the person is young, it is heart rending. War is horrible.
