In the spirit of fantasy and role playing games, I wanted to derive inspiration from Guild Wars, Diablo, World of Warcraft, Oblivion, and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons to arrive at a composite piece that embodied elements of all those games. You can see a little mix of each in here as I'm a hard core gamer at heart and thrive on those worlds and themes to perk up my imagination. The portal I modeled in Hexagon and is kind of a mix between Diablo and Oblivion I suppose you could say, but I wanted it more demonic and imposing looking, so I have horns sticking out and a metallic frame with spikes and whatnot. The character can be deduced from a number of elements including Countess and the succubus from Diablo and perhaps a mix of other things, as well. The horns on the character were made by our very own ~UweG ; stop by his page and say hello and have a look around!
I'm not too sure if I will scare off my watchers with this or not, but it's all in good fun really! I'm do not study demonology or worship the devil or study the occult or practice Satanism, I just like fantasy themed art and try to portray and depict these subjects and themes into my work. This scene took me about a week on and off because I have been studying digital painting and wrestling with that whole sack of mice, but put this together in my spare time so I don't get rusty! I hope you enjoy this madness and there will be MOAR coming very soon! Stay tuned!

Yes, I have one where I used those and that piece will be posted over time! I have to fix the armpits on that with that neat Simple Details thing that came out. I liked how it came out, but the arms really could use that morph. Definitely great horns! Every time I look at those I want to do a new scene! Hehe! Thanks again for the great stuff!

Well, I must say that my eyes were tearing most of the time working on this one and it certainly didn't make me feel any cooler in this warm weather, either! I need to make cool scenes in the Summer and hot ones in the Winter; I never learn! LOL! I tried some different variations with the lighting and had other colors in the mix and even a night time setting, but I ended up going back to old trusty scorching fire colors again. Most definitely thank you for the nice comment and the , that means a whole to me!!

Wow at the portal you made in Hexagon. It really does look demonic like ones you see in games. The elephants are like they are guarding it which is nice. I bet you they are not your regular elephants. And the girl is what truly completes this art work with her demonic red eyes and outfit

Actually those dudes on the side of the portal are gargoyles; and more specifically they are Fatale's free gargoyles from many years ago that aren't available anymore. I had to retexture them in Vue with new materials and they kind of hide back there. I couldn't find a way to pop them out of the scene without them looking out of place, so they are left at the imagination of the viewer! Thanks for the the visit and for the nice comment, Muffin!

No? They do look like elephants. I think maybe I spent too much time in Belgium today. It affected my sense of reality.

I bought some art supplies yesterday, as well! I can't believe how expensive they are!! It's cheaper to buy guns and ammo here than art supplies! LOL!! I think I'm in the wrong business and need to open an art store and charge $5 for a pencil!! And since most of these items I was looking at are imported, I guess America can't even make a pencil here, either! Unreal! But that does sound like a lot of fun and I would love to visit and take in all the sights there! What an amazing place, I am so envious!!

KOH come from Czech republic and should be cheaper. Imagine the cost for other countries where the currency is even worse than the US. Even here I find things expensive, I can't imagine there. Best thing you can do is get a clutch pencil for drawing. Yesterday I got a nice Staedtler 2mm for sketch. For shading I use my 6mm KOH clutch pencil and I bought a Sepia pencil too along with a kneedable eraser but I am lucky because all is cheaper here but I did spend over 110 euros on everything. The major brands are either German, German or German....Czech...German...lol The Euro doesn't help you either. But there is good news. The Canadians "Sanford" did buy some well known brands [link] Maybe you can find something cheaper through them.
Belgium is not all that great. I just like to visit their art store in the French speaking part: Brussels and the Dutch speaking part: Antwerpen. You can feel the difference in road quality as soon as you enter bumpy Belgium. The buildings are not restored there, everything looks messy and dirty. Not many pretty sights, unlike Holland. I can compare. I am not biased. I am an Australian/Portuguese immigrant living in Holland, or should I say, the Netherlands *looks around to see if anyone saw the atrocity I wrote with fear of being hit*. A lot of countries, including Portugal seem to poorly maintain their buildings and such, although Portugal is a poor country, it looks cleaner than Belgium. I would be ashamed to be Belgian to be honest. The capital of the European union in such a dirty and poorly maintained country.

Wow! Well, first of all, not many people look at my work so don't worry about backfire. LOL! Secondly, I'm a bit surprised to hear that Belgium doesn't appear to be as beautiful as the pictures I have seen. It looks like heaven to me from some pictures, but perhaps they just shoot the best parts. The roads here are getting bad and the US has run out of money to fix everything. We will soon be a second world country if something doesn't change and it's sad. The inflation is so bad here; they just raised my sales tax to 9.25% and food and just about everything else is going up except wages that are already too low. Which leads me to....
Art supplies! Well, I'm just going to light a twig on fire and blow it out and use that for pencil cause I'm not paying $4 for a pencil. Not gonna happen in my lifetime. I will make one myself before I pay that. I don't care it the wood is rosewood and is banded with gold, not gonna happen. LOL! They want us to go green, but they don't help matters by forcing people to use plastic pens and throw them away in 2 weeks. And 100 Euros...that's like what? $2 billion?!? Not gonna happen. *Goes out and looks for twigs* LOL!

sales tax here is 20% food is 5%. Living in Europe is way too expensive and it sucks in poor countries like Portugal where minimum wage is around $400 a month.
lol

20%?!? What the hell?? It's guess it's not out of the question to grow your own garden then. When I staye din Romania for a month, it was dirt cheap and coule live like a king and eat out three meals a day with drinks, go shopping, take a cab all over for under $20! I don't get it!

MythArcana In reply to Kjherstin [2009-05-23 10:37:08 +0000 UTC]
Well, most don't. The wages there are really bad and it's a great value for any visitor to spend their money there, even now. See...I was against this whole stupid money thing to begin with. I thought to have everything for free and everyone equal, but that concept never caught on.

I don't know about Master, but I'll take the title of either Wizard or Elder Dragon! LOL! I have some really hot ones up and coming but I'm trying to ease them in as I don't want to overwhelm everyone with fire and brimstone all at once! I'm thinking I should mix in some cute and pretty stuff so I don't scare everyone off here, but it's all good I guess. 18 billion game fans can't be wrong, right? I know, right! My feeling is that I was going for a post-Searing effect in Guild Wars where everything used to be green and pretty before the massive attack on the land. Perhaps I will try something in the future that will lean more towards that theme, but there is plenty of fire and brimstone on the horizon yet!
