I've been using Photoshop for like... a million years and I've only just now learned about clipping. WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME? IT'S SO USEFUL!

Hmmm but is this mean there'll still be lineart in the coloring?

That's a good method!
But I know something else. Actually bucket tool is VERY handy! I use SAI for like 2 years and flat coloring was such a nightmare to me, I used pen tool in photoshop to fill image with the colors.
I also want to make flat coloring as simple and as fast as I can. And because of the bucket it startet to being my favourite part!
Use these settings:
Transparency (strict)
All Image
Anti-aliasing is on
You want to fill clothes with green. You do a new layer. Call it whatever you want. Click on the area, and tadah! The area is filled with green, you saved some minutes. Of course you have to fill corners with the color.
I figured this out months ago and so far it's the fastest and the easiest way in my opinion.

Just want to second this! Bucket tool=not just useful in MS Paint!
If you have nice clean lines, make a new layer, select your lineart layer/folder as your selection source, set your bucket target to selection source, and bucket tool awaaaaay~!
There'll always be a couple white dots and spaces you'll have to fill in, but it's much better than filling everything in like you're doing traditional art on paper. :]

Oh my gosh, thank you so much! ^^
I never thought about using the outline as a clipping layer to smoothen the edges! SO smart! 8D <333

Oh haha I do that too~! Glad to see other artists are actually doing this!
I actually have lowered opacity line art so it makes it easier to give color to the lines~

Maybe i'll ask a stupid question, but for what purpose gray base color is needed? I use almost the same way of coloring but color without that gray-thing layer.

umm... it's not needed
but i use gray base to lock the area
all color i paint will only in this gray area
and you didn't worry about color that will out of area you want
