Description This animation is a depiction of the evolution of the uniforms of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes.

-1974: The New England Whalers debuted in the World Hockey Association wearing green and white.
-1977: The Whalers added yellow accents and simplified their logo. (Note: pictures were almost impossible to find, so this is almost certainly flawed.)
-1979: The uniforms underwent a few more changes for the last few years in the WHA.
(Note: In retrospect, I realized that the "W" on the white jerseys from '74-'79 would most likely have been green, not white. I'll change this in the near future.)
-1982: The Whalers joined the NHL following the collapse of the WHA, changing their name to the Hartford Whalers, their colors to green and blue, and their logo to one of the most genius designs ever.
-1983: In 1983, the Whalers joined the Philadelphia Flyers in wearing long "Cooperall" pants. Needless to say, these didn't last.
-1984: The Whalers returned to the pre-Cooperall pants and socks.
-1989: The tail striping changes subtly, and "Pucky," the whale that adorned the team's shoulders since its inception, is harpooned.
-1990: The sleeve stripes straighten out.
-1991: The sleeve stripes are angled again.
-1992: The sleeve stripes straighten out again.
-1997: Seeking to boost merchandise sales, the Whalers make navy blue their primary color and add silver accents.
-2007: The Whalers move south to North Carolina, changing their name to the Carolina Hurricanes and adopting a red, black, and silver color scheme. The logo is a modified version of the international hurricane symbol, and the tail stripe consists of gale warning flags.
-2008: The RBK Edge system barely affects the 'Canes.
-Present: The 'Canes introduce an all-black alternate, the only alternate in their history. Curiously enough, the alternate logo, which has been used since the move to Carolina, depicts a tropical storm warning– hurricane warnings use two such flags.
