"Come on, James, I'll drive you there," Ms. Foten said.

"Oh, thank you," James said. He ducked into the backseat with Jena, and they headed for the hospital.

"That was very impressive back there, James," Jena said.

"It wasn't that hard," James replied. "I've always had a very good memory."

"No, not that," Jena said. "Back in the diner with that woman."

"Oh, it was nothing," James replied. He smiled to himself as he recolled how his proper calculating and precise timing had allowed him to hit Amber squarely in the exact same spot on the face twice. His dreamy memory was interrupted by Jena's words.

"You saved my life, James," Jena said, leaning over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Thank you."

James flushed a little bit. "Well, uh, don't mention it," he mumbled. "I'm just glad I was there."
