"He's my best friend, not a damn pet. He has his own life, and I have no right to control who and what he likes, just because I'm afraid."

"It's alright," Jena said, then with a curious frown added. "You keep referring to James and me as humans but not yourself. Aren't you human?" Scarlet opened her mouth to speak.

"Yes she is," James interjected, then with a smile added. "A monster wouldn't have saved me or showed me compassion." Scarlet smiled faintly at James is words. Then turned to the window, her eyes suddenly filled with alarm.
