Common Name: Clouded Leopard
Common Name Synonyms: Tree Tiger, Mint Leopard, Clouded Tiger
Scientific Name: Neofelis/Panthera nebulosa
Size: 25-55cm tall in the shoulders, 60-100cm from snout to tail-base + 55-90cm long tail = 115-190cm from snout to tail
Classification: Feliform
Habitat: Forests, Jungles
Diet: Carnivorous; diet consisted of deer, rodents, lizards, and chicken-like birds
Description: Named after their spots shaped like 'clouds' on their fur, which the dark spots are edged with black, the clouded leopards are almost like the monkeys, due to the fact, they have been observed hanging from the braches from their back feet, upside down like opossoms. As these cats are not only the basal members of Panthera lineage, but the living saber-tooth cats, they have the largest upper canine teeth relative to skull size of any other large carnivore, but not longer than their saber-toothed cousins, the Saber-toothed Cabbit(Smilodon). Clouded leopards are very good at climbing the trees, and they are solitary and crepuscular arboreal predators, which they can kill their prey with deadly upper canines, and sharp claws. After they eat their kill, they retreat back to the trees, for digestion and rest. Possibly that these cats are threatened by deforestations, and poachers who use them as substitutes for tigers in Traditional Asiatic Medicine, and tonics. As they are called as "Real-Life Tiggers," because they are cute, and bouncy. But as they are underrated cats, they are seen in the games, like Zoo Tycoon, and the only animated movie that feature the clouded leopard named "Siri," was Rugrats Go Wild, of course Chrissie Hynde voiced Siri the Clouded leopard. In USA, the clouded leopards are endangered species, under the Endangered Species Act, banning the trades in the animals, or any parts, or products made from these cats. Rarely that these tree tigers are prey of, besides humans, are tigers, dholes, and leopards. People say that this cat was considered a form between big and little cats. Despite that they are more closely related to snow leopards and tigers, than lions, jaguars, and leopards, the clouded leopards are considered the smallest of the big cats(even along with bobcats).
