Hmm. I thought the Maned Wolf wasn't a member of the fox family. I thought it was the last member of its genus. (At least, that's what I remember reading.) But, I do know it's been described as a fox on stilts. LOL. Oh, while I'm thinking of it, you use the past tense in your description, like the species is now extinct. Have they gone extinct? I know that a couple of years ago, there weren't too many left in the wild.

Pretty much, but maned wolves actually near threatened, and they're not extinct. You got the point man.

Okay. I'm a big fan of foxes (They're in the top five of my favorite animals.) so anything that looks like a fox gets my attention plus I try to read everything I can about them. That's why I was a bit confused. But, I really can't critique someone else in their writing and spelling. (I'm far from perfect myself. LOL.)

I have long loved this species! Not to be a bother, but the genus and species you list is actually the Bush Dog, not the Maned Wolf, which is Chysocyon Brachyurus. Seems to me the Latin means Golden Dog, Short Tail. I should have taken Latin.
