Size: 100-150cm tall in the shoulders, 170-210cm long

Description: One of the largest of all antelopes in Asia. Nilgais have sexual dimorphism, that males are bigger and bluish than the females. Cows and calves are reddish than the adult males. These big antelopes shared the habitats with blackbuck, chital, and water buffaloes. They're very shy, and timid, yet they are alarmed, when they are typically tamed. Not all Nilgai lived in India, but they are introduced in Texas since 1920's. Males have horns, and a beard, and had white spots on his face. The name "nilgai," meaning "blue cow," in Sanskrit. The predators of the nilgai, are lions and tigers, but they are not significant predators to this antelope. Leopards preyed upon the nilgai, but they prefer small prey. Dholes preyed upon nilgai calves. Other predators of the nilgai, are wolves and striped hyenas. Rare predators to nilgai as carcass, are that of the scavengers, like jackals.
