Description
You can use this in different ways:1. Use it between boot and logonscreen, like the orb in Vista. Picture shows a original screenshot of my virtual pc.
2.Make a total black bootscreen with tune up. No picture, no progressbar. Than this will be the first thing you see of your tuned xp. This will be the only way to get a good looking w7 fake"bootscreen" for xp. The limitations of xp allow no other way.
Install is very easy: Copy the bmp to c windows, than run activate reg.
Don`t like it anymore? Simply delete the bmp.
P.S: If someone knows good images of the bootsequence please give me a link. I wanna try something.
Update: Added blackscreen for use with tuneup to the package. You only need to set the colour of the progressbar to black. Black progressbar on black background is no progressbar.

Yeah, this is old hat, but I forgot how much time i could waste customizing XP. Also forgot how fast one of these old machines would run with 500+ mb of ram. all fun. thanks and hope all these works remain in place for years more.

This can't be really animated on XP. You can call it a 2phase animation if you want.

It's easy to make such a GIF. Only XP can't display it while startup. No chance.
Btw. the original isn't a GIF it's a large bitmap with more than 100 frames.

I think that's not possible. Normally this is used to show a company logo while booting up.

We thought of the same thing at the same time, Peter, lol! I put that wallpaper on one of our XPs about 5 weeks ago as a startup wallpaper (after boot but before winlogon). Just did it the old fashioned regedit way though. Yours, I'm sure is much easier and foolproof.

Thanks for your comment. It is so easy and i was wondering, why noone did it before. The install by editing the registry by hand is potentially dangerous, cause you don`t know who is downloading it.I don`t want to blow up someones system by his own foolishness.

Hi!
I am running windows7 32bit because my pc is to old to support 64bit. But i like it. It is running fast and stable. The beta for vista sp2 is not yet installed, spend to much time on7. Have you seen my XP desktop with your wallpaper?

Hey:
Thanks, I will use when I get some time right now using Seven & Fedora 10 on my primary( Core i7 920 Quad) and Vista Sp2 and Ubuntu 9.04 on my secondary( Athlon-64 3800 x2) machine but my third (Athlon-64 3500) has Xp sp3,& Zenwalk on it, its good to keep around because you never know when you need to use XP instead of vista or 7.

When i hear this, i think it is time for me to buy a new pc. And i like XP too. I have 7 and Vista but i often use XP because it is easy to customize.

Vista has come a long way now and with SP2 will be much better but XP will always have its charms.
If you do get a new PC the Core i7 is crazy fast!, it Processes with 8 threads at a time 4 real and 4 virtual.

Sorry. Seems i cannot help you. The only idea i still have, is that you are running a registry guard like spybot or so.

Have you read the text? There is nothing really installed. It is a registry hack. Take the image called startup.bmp and copy it to your Windows systemfolder. Do not rename it. Otherwise it will not work. Than run activate reg. This is for xp SP2 and SP3.
Hope i could help you. It is really easy and works 100 percent.
