You should trace with path tool on a new layer and when you are done with them delete their layer.kk?

so, i kinda was testing gimp today and i figured something out.... when i save... it doesn't save the right way. all of my layers like meld into one and then i can't work on it again... help please? i know i'm proably exceedingly late on this too, sorry lol

Click on the "File" menu.
Then, click on "Save As..." in the list.
It should say something like "(name of picture).xcf"
Highlight the ".xcf", then delete it.
Then replace it with another file type, like ".jpg" (That's the file type I always use anyways~)
Then it should be saved as a picture instead of a Gimp project. x3

o lol had that problem before too :b
the thing is you're probably not saving it as an .xcf file, and it automatically saves as a .jpg or whatever kind of file it originally was
all you gotta do is go to "save as" and save it as an xcf. Either type it in where the ".jpg" or whatever extension is, or there should be a drop-down menu
