Thank you so much for the tutorial. This should help me out a lot, since I don't have a tablet. Who'd thought drawing with a mouse would be so hard? XP

Thanks for showing me how to use the path tool in Gimp. I've been using the programme for a while now but this is the first I've seen in a tutorial for line art! So thanks!

Oh hell yeah this helps!
I use gimp too
Sooo I have to use the "path tool" then.... (I used pencil b4, but it was so tedious with mouse)

Yeah totally- and with a mouse it is hard to get a smooth line~

sigh....i cant figure out how to use the path tool....when i try it then press onther tool the line goes away>.<

pheona In reply to BriBriBlitz [2007-10-06 02:25:01 +0000 UTC]
That is just what it does. After you make the line and "stroke path" you don't need it anymore. If you need to put a path back on the screen, open the "paths" window and click on the eye icon next to it.

.... how do I "get rid of the sketch"?
Thanks for this btw!! *fave*
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pheona In reply to ObsessedByDaydreams [2007-09-30 14:56:29 +0000 UTC]
Well, the sketch should be on its own layer, so you can either delete it by clicking on the garbage can icon or clickinging the eyeball on the layer (that will hide it, in case you need it later for any reason)

ObsessedByDaydreams In reply to pheona [2007-10-01 13:42:55 +0000 UTC]
Oh, ok..
but how do you.. make it's own layer ontop of the first one? ^^
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pheona In reply to ObsessedByDaydreams [2007-10-01 17:39:46 +0000 UTC]
I'm not sure what you are saying, but if you want to know how to put the lineart on its own layer, just paste the image onto a new layer. If your sketch layer is already the background, cut and paste it onto a new one.

Yes, thank you. It's now an important project. The least I could try would be the line art. I'm not too sure about the colouring and shading - but I think I could get the lineart down at best.

If I'm using a scanned image, should I just....move on to the next step?
Or do you need a solid-colored lineart?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pheona In reply to swan-swan [2007-09-10 03:59:50 +0000 UTC]
If you can have the lineart without the background, that is fine. The only thing you need to start coloring is the lineart on its own layer.

Thank you! I'd been wondering how to lock layer transparency....
I draw curved lines with the straight line tool. You just need to make them small enough... The Paths tool looks really nice, though. I'll try it out!
