Description
Taking a break from animating to show you more shit about guns.Sidenote: The ones labeled "sure" are either unconventional or debatable, but I think are still correct and up to you if you want to hold it that way.

It wasn't just you. Someone else did it too. So I was like "Hrm...there's a trend here..."

For turning quickly, aiming up should also be "correct", right? Well as long as there are not people up there I guess.
also swinging it wide, you can add the bulletpoint that it makes it easier for people to disarm you.
On the last picture consider quickly editing it so it sweeps left to right, so there is sequential flow. As long as the gun is pointing away from the center it should look better.

No. Aiming up is actually even more slower and awkward (believe me, I tried doing that with my airsoft m4 just now). Also consider that bullets that shoot up (in a roofless environment) will eventually fall and possibly hit someone you don't want to get hit. Better to put a hole in the ground.
One rule that professional gunmen follow is to always keep a certain distance in order to avoid scenarios such as getting disarmed (which is explained in another gun tutorial I did)
I'm not too concerned about the last image.

Eh, pistols might be an exception of pointing up, because of weapon size.(and weight)
Of course you want to keep a distance from your target, but I was thinking of stuff like clearing rooms swat team style. You end up getting close regardless of what you are doing, and the limitation of openings to be attacked during that is handy.
With shooting up, I don't feel to bad about pointing up if you have any sort of trigger discipline.(thank you spell check)
Because with all of this, I am totally a expert now that I have shot a real pistol at a shooting range.

Well I guess that could work, but I think when turning that way with a handgun, you're supposed to hold it tight against your chest and then take aim again.
Well if you're in a squad doing CQB, I'm sure your friends would have your back (assuming they aren't dicks, hah) And ideally, you'd have a relatively short gun for that kind of situation.
Ooo, what gun(s) did you shoot? It felt like POWER in your hands didn't it?

First, I suppose holding it to your chest is easier pointing up than down, and side to side violate's "Don't point at anything you don't intend to splat"
I don't know specifically, I shot a 9 mil, and a 45. I went there with my mother as my birthday...thing.
the first shot was "Ohshit", but after that I got more even with my shots between loading the mags (and noticing that the .45 took much more effort to put 5 (out of 7?) shots int said mag)
Afterwards my mother actually said she was proud about how calm I was with the pistol. After each round at the target, pulling out the mag, checking the chamber putting the gun facing downrage on the table in the shooting lane.
I do really want to get a handgun, (And a rifle eventually). And I need to remember to go to the shooting range myself some time, it's still a 40$ thing to do it for a half hour, renting the pistol and getting the ammo.

Yeah, I think so. I wasn't a hundred percent sure if it was to shoulder or to elbow, so I guessed. Though, I could just be remembering it wrong.

That's very accurate! I remember how I was told all of these things when I was on the air rilfery team.
Your tutorial definitely helps for drawing so I don't have to go and take a picture of myself or someone else doing the pose with a rifle for a reference. I'll definitely have to use this for future artworks. Thanks for being so awesome by providing us with this tutorial!
