Description Woo! I got something done *lol*
It's been ages since I painted something, so I thought I'd do something simple to help get back into the swing of things (hopefully).

This cheeky thing has been sitting in my sketchbook for almost a year now. It was only yesterday that I thought to myself 'Yeah, it's mermaid painting time.'

So here's my take on a Koi mermaid. She was fun to paint!

Thankyou so much! With this piece, this title came to me first (which is normally not the case) so I had to work to that. The expression took a little while to get right, but I'm happy with the way she turned out.

What a great idea to make a koi mermaid! I actually never thought of that, even though it is so beautiful! This mermaid is about the most unique one I have seen yet. Also, great job on the transparency of the fins!

one thing i learned as an tattoo artist is you have to find confidence in all the work you do. thats when you truly find the artist within you deserve it because i have watched your art change in somany ways and it shows growth and i'm proud to see your work you are growing as a artist and a person and it shows i look forward to seeing your work all the time

Wow that is by far the BEST mermaid I have ever seen. So much more the way I picture a mermaid to be in my head... such a wonderful job you did with this.. I adore her expression.. and the colors and motion of this is so wonderful .. a definite fave!

Aww thankyou! You sure know how to make a gal blush!

I was lucky, in that my mum has a small pond with cold water goldfish & a couple Koi carp. I love sitting and watching them calmly float & glide through the water. So inspiration for this one came very easily. There's also something very fluid & graceful about fish movements, and when it comes to mermaids I think we often place too much 'human' emphasis on them. I like giving mine a more fishy flow with their bodies.
