Sometimes traditional drawing skills just don't cut it, like when you need to make a long, smooth curve, or do precision work. Pen tool to the rescue! >w<

I really want to know if it's possible to taper a line at just one end, it'd be a life saver to know if that was possible somehow. ;3;

Popo-Licious In reply to RadioactiveBirds [2012-02-19 18:37:03 +0000 UTC]
A complex brush would do the trick, but I'm not quite sure how to create a brush of that nature. What you can do instead is make the path longer than you need, stroke it, and then erase the excess. That should leave you with a tapered end and a wide end. :3

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just switched from Paint.net to PS (for my 3D needs) and when I made my reference, I couldn't figure out the pen tool. Your tutorial helped me out, and you deserve a hug for that.

I have GIMP...
How much of this translates?

Popo-Licious In reply to lil-puppy23 [2012-02-14 23:09:33 +0000 UTC]
Did you happen to find this through a GIMP group or something? I've gotten a bunch of notes and comments today specifically asking me about GIMP, which I don't use. From what I've heard, you can use the same methods in that program as the one I've displayed above. :3

I'm a GIMP user, but I have an ink tool instead of a pen tool. So how do I ink smoothly in GIMP?

I don't use Gimp, but I'm told that the process is almost exactly the same.

Popo-Licious In reply to SegaXNintendo [2012-02-14 05:22:55 +0000 UTC]
Well, seeing as Photoshop is the only program I use, I really can't recommend anything.

I tried about 10 pen tool tutorial but my lineart still looks like a crap I donΒ΄t know , iΒ΄m stupid or thereΒ΄s something wrong with my photoshop ?
π: 0 β©: 1
Popo-Licious In reply to Eryler [2012-01-21 17:42:32 +0000 UTC]
What version of Photoshop are you using, and what's the problem with your lineart specifically? (As in, are you not happy with the design, or is it something technical, such as your lines are too faded/not faded enough/grainy/etc.?)

Eryler In reply to Popo-Licious [2012-01-21 21:55:26 +0000 UTC]
IΒ΄m using CS3 version . Well , the lines are too smooth and warped .

Popo-Licious In reply to Eryler [2012-01-21 22:06:36 +0000 UTC]
Too smooth? I'm not sure I understand, and "warped" doesn't really explain the issue either. Can you send me a screenshot? :3
