your tutorial is brilliant. thanku so much for posting this. I have been looking for some kind of "gooD" tutorial regarding line art in ps for months in my spare time=/ Thanks so much. By any chance do u have or know where i can find a tutorial regarding anime/ vector style coloring? My girl and I would love to learn that. Professionally im a 3D artist so this line art and anime coloring stuff is new to me lol. thanks.

Try doing a search! Just type in "anime tutorial" or "cell shading" or anything like that! I also just posted a coloring tutorial myself. :3

I'm using Photoshop CS6 so I can't set the settings how you did it above. But I DID choose the pen tool and I made a path. I right clicked and chose Stroke Path. The problem is that there is no window popping up. Help?! <

Sorry! I don't have CS6 so the whole system might be different. I have no idea what to tell you about the settings, and if no window is popping up then any number of things could be wrong. If you were using CS3 or 4 I could troubleshoot you, but I'm not sure what to say here. >:

My lines aren't crisp and smooth like yours, but is pixeled, even when I zoom out. Do I need to begin on a higher resolution and bigger canvas?
π: 0 β©: 1
Popo-Licious In reply to purenai [2012-08-17 03:15:43 +0000 UTC]
Just to make sure that your zoom isn't an issue, make sure it's set to 100%. If this still doesn't help, please reset your brushes. :3

It sounds like you aren't clearing your path from the work area. Use the steps I described in my tutorial to make a new path. If this still doesn't address your problem, make sure your settings are exactly like the ones I have circled in the first image. :3

Hi! Open Photoshop, open the menu for brushes, and there should be a button that let's you load or reset your brushes. Click the reset button. Pick the first brush. It should be 1px with 100% hardness, 100% opacity, and 100% flow. Use that brush. You can set it to any size you want. :3 If you want the ends to fade, set the minimum diameter, which I show in the tutorial.
