If you're looking for legitimate way to obtain it, you can use student ID to get really good discounts on software. I got about $500 in savings when I bought CS3 that way. :3

Most of the discounts are online and not through an actual school, so it works for any level of students, even high school. Sorry if you're looking for a free download or something, but I can't help you there. >o<

Thank you for the tutorial!!
I have some questions on tapering xD Is there a way to taper/simulate pen pressure sketching lines with the regular paint brush on Photoshop without a tablet? Also, is it possible to partially taper a line? If you know what I mean, the tapered lines are always tapered all the way through the line so that it ends up looking too thick near the middle and too thin near the end, yet I still want a nicely tapered end.
Sorry if my questions were confusing!

Hello!
I don't think you can set the brush to taper automatically if you don't have a tablet, but you can use an eraser to create a similar effect. (Depicted in the last image.) That said, if you have a tablet, you can adjust how tapered the line is by changing the minimum diameter, also shown in the tutorial. If the lines are unnaturally thick in the center, you're probably not using a default brush. :3

I just got CS5 and saw this tutorial in a link from ~wsache007 , he's posting it on all of his new drawings. I used a similar technique in GIMP, but hopefully this tutorial will give me a smooth transition. Thanks a lot

Not sure! Try downloading it instead. :3 Sometimes images on dA drop-out at random. You could try to come back in a few hours.

THIS IS AWESOME
One question though.....
i can't refine the settings after i draw the line..does that mean i have to do it first???
π: 0 β©: 1
Popo-Licious In reply to KloKloShoo [2012-05-24 11:51:12 +0000 UTC]
Yes, it does. :3 Once the line is drawn, it has been committed to pixels. Any changes need to be made while the path is still a path and not pixels.

π: 0 β©: 1
Popo-Licious In reply to KloKloShoo [2012-05-25 23:59:26 +0000 UTC]
It was a combination. :3 The hair was done by switching between a 4-6px brush and the minimum diameter was most likely set between 50-70%. For the jaw, I think I used a 3px brush with the minimum diameter set to 100%.
