Yep! It sounds like you don't have the settings correct. Check out the first image in my tutorial and make sure all the buttons circled in orange are checked off in Photoshop. :3

how can i take color on the black pen

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Popo-Licious In reply to ZoeTheKat5 [2012-05-10 21:55:04 +0000 UTC]

If you mean that you want to change the color of the pen tool itself, you can't. I just did that so you could see it better. :3 If you want to change the color that you're drawing with, just us the normal color picker.

hey, do you feel that the pen tool is a better way of making lineart? and also, could you list the shortcut keys for the pentool? (just so i can see em all in one go ^^)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Popo-Licious In reply to 5UNNYR4Y3 [2012-04-21 15:45:27 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I personally prefer to use the pen tool for lineart. It takes longer, but the benefits outweigh the time issue. :3

I can't really think of any hotkeys that are pen tool specific. (And I'm not going to list all the hundreds of PS hotkeys.) XD Just remember to make and move points with CTRL.

5UNNYR4Y3 In reply to Popo-Licious [2012-04-21 17:01:23 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I think ill have to switch back to using pen tool the majority of the time. Especially for thinner, less anime-style lines

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Popo-Licious In reply to 5UNNYR4Y3 [2012-04-21 17:27:40 +0000 UTC]

Oh? I would imagine that you would want to take a free-hand approach if you're trying to move away from anime/etc. I mean, obviously you can use whatever techniques you want, but if you're trying to become painterly or realistic, I'm pretty sure that most of those artists try to stay away from heavily done lineart. >O<

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

5UNNYR4Y3 In reply to Popo-Licious [2012-04-21 19:50:53 +0000 UTC]

Well thinner lines can be difficult when done by hand...I just need something clean to keep my edges sharp, or else they're all fuzzy lokking -_-;
