Description
This is my contest entry for 's contest. The theme of the contest is "Draw yourself as an Alien or Predator."
Which I won with second place. HOW COOL! Thanks, guys!...With profound apologies to Lord Shiva...
"Apotheosis" is the act of becoming a god. You see this a lot starting just before the Renaissance Art period and continuing on through Roccoco.
So. I figured that if I'm going to stroke my ego to this degree, drawing myself as a Predator, I might as well make my ego purr... And why be an ordinary Hunter/Killer, anyway? Here I am as a Predator GOD, in a similar vein to good ol' Setg'in-de' paya Mni'awusthe.
The only real concessions to "self" that wound up in this drawing are my blue eyes, my phoenix pendant, my favorite Riddick knife, and a lot of Stuff That's Blue. Honestly, I don't have that many spots, and my fingernails are not quite that sharp.
Why is it that all the gods in my head dance? I don't know, but they do. Consistently.

If you cared to sharpen your fingernails, I'm sure they'd look like that after you painted them black.

AND! I bet the gods in your head dance because they can get away with dancing like a white boy... I mean, who would want to point out, "Hey, your dancing sucks!!" to a GOD?

It's still a bit had to tell what's going on with the arms since I made the armor all one color like that; I'll have to play with the design later or something to try to get that to work out better.
...Well, yes. The gods dance any way they damn well please, because they've evolved beyond the point where they care what the puny mortals think. They just want to dance to the music of the spheres, just like everybody else...

...As for the floating eyes... That's just one of those off-the-wall ideas that stuck in my head. Now most of the Predator gods seem to be turning out that way.

I would not say that this one is a masterpiece - there are some issues with the body proportions that I would like to rework, for example. But I'm glad that you enjoy my strange ideas so much!

Hey, don't get me wrong - I *do* get confused. I typically draw and color these things one limb at a time (which is why the designs always end up asymmetrical, strangely enough) so that my brain doesn't hemorrhage.

I think it's a matter of having been involved with the Predator fandom for twenty years that allows me to come up with original ideas within this very specific genre. I keep thinking over stories and adventures, then tweaking them into something that's almost unrecognizable when compared to the source material... Stories and pictures mutate over and over again to become something I've never seen before.
Then again, everybody needs their gods. Even Predators. I volunteer for the job!
