This is my entry for the Aliens/Predator versus Fantasy Creatures contest at #avpalternative . I created the work with pen and ink, watercolor and colored pencil. It took me about twelve hours to color, but I didn't color it all in one sitting!I'd had an idea or two for Predator versus the Cthulhu Mythos floating around in my head for quite a while - ever since I drew up a zany doodle during the commencement speech for CMSU's 2001 graduating class. For this final image I made a few adjustments - it's *slightly* less silly, but not by much. Something that always struck me about the BEM's - the Bug-Eyed Monsters - of 1920's and 1930's weird fiction is that although they do horrible things to the story heroes, they look patently ridiculous. I tried to bring some of that "horrible, yet silly" feeling into this picture, while still making the creature look like it would be a worthy challenge for our Predator hero.
Oh, and for the curious: The Predator is named Khan'nai Amphede-ui'puande. He's Chaunn's dad.

LOL - thanks. I've really missed doing color work with all of the black'n'white commission drawings. I did this one for fun (as well as for the contest), and I had a lot of fun coloring it.
