TW for past child abuse, alcohol abuse & death

A few months after his parents' sudden deaths Gallantry found himself sitting in front of their graves. He's been avoiding it for a long time, but, better late than never.

Gall sighed as he stared at the two stones in the ground.

"Hi mom and dad. Where do I even begin?" he was silent for a few moments, staring at the ground in deep thought before he turned back.

"You two were horrible. You were horrible ponies and horrible parents. You never loved me and you made that quite clear....but....you were my parents. I..I can't help but feel like it's my fault our relationship was never good."

Gall's ears pinned back as he squeezed his eyes shut, trying to stop the tears from fighting to the surface. Emery told him to just let it all out, and that's what he was gonna do.

"I just..I just don't get it. Why didn't you two ever love me? Not even once did you show any love towards me, I was miserable with you guys and running away was my best decision!....And..you didn't even try looking for me.."

The world stood still, Gall sat there as if he was expecting some sort of response, but he knew he'd never get one.

"Maybe it was my fault. Maybe I should've come back and tried to fix things between us..but I didn't..but Emery always tells me not to give ponies who don't deserve or want it a second chance. Maybe it's my fault maybe it's not, we'll never know. But I'm happy now. I have a wife, and friends, and ponies who actually care about me and love me. They've made me feel more loved than you two did my entire dam life!"

With his ears back up and a proud smirk on his face Gall stood up, looking at the graves one last time.

"Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go home to my wife"

Kicking a bit of dirt on the graves out of disrespect Gallantry proudly made his way back to his family. His real family.

Ponies who loved and cared about him unconditionally.
