Description
I will be using Photoshop CS2 for this tutorial.1. First, pick your image. I will be using the one above.
2. Duplicate your background/image layer, and set it to screen at 40%.
3. Create a new raster layer, and fill it with the colour #001388. Set that layer to exclusion at 25%.
4. Create another new raster layer and fill it with the colour #DBF1F5. Set that layer to colour burn at 40%.
5. Create another new raster layer, and fill it with the colour #FFF6E0. Set it to multiply at 32%.
6. Create your last raster layer, and fill it with the colour 043B5D. Set it to lighten at 40%.
7. Duplicate your background layer and drag it to the top. Set it to soft light at 70%.
8. Go to layers > new adjustment layer > hue/saturation. Set saturation to +5.
9. Go to layers > new adjustment layer > brightness/contrast and fill this in:
Brightness: +5
Contrast: +10
Now merge your layers and you're done!

i must be doing this wrong- how do i merge them all- i try to right click to "merge layers" but it wont let me. i can either "merge down" or "merge visible" and neither of those works right

layer (at the top of the screen) > merge visible or flatten image work.

I like this tutorial alot. I experimented with this tutorial and it looked so cool. Try putting it in gray scale! It makes the shadows really standout. GOOD JOB!!!

Does anyone know how I would enter the hex codes with letters into cs3? I'm completely lost.

I love this tutorial! It's opened many new doors to color editing for me. I was wondering if I could use it on my tutorial blog here [link] (with full credit to you, of course). I could either copy it and post it, making it obvious that you are the author, or I could just give a link to it. I wanted to ask your permission first, though.
Either way, I really enjoyed finding this!

Thank you. :]
Yes you can, as long as you don't take credit for any part of the tutorial and credit/link back to me..

Excuse me ,I'm wondering what's a raster layer>? How can I find the menu path?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
rocketlaunch In reply to masray [2007-09-21 07:36:55 +0000 UTC]
to view the layers menu you go to window (at the top with all the things like file, edit, etc.) and then click on layers. creating a raster layer is pretty simple. there's some icons along the bottom of the layers menu, click the one that looks like a piece of paper with a little fold in it.
