This tutorial can be used for making human-size boots too, with some changes to the process:
1. No wire in the soles, of course.
2. Leather for all parts should be much thicker than for dolls.
3. Use stiff and strong leather for the outer soles. Make low heels (I recommend not more than 3 cm high) because higher heels require special soles.

Thank ou very much! This tutorial is suitable for dollie shoes of any kind, and for human-size boots too (with some tweaking). So you may use the method for American Doll too!

This is going to be majorly useful for a doll I've been needing to finish for ages. I just need to think of something besides wood for the heel.

Good luck to you! You may use just any material that is strong enough for the heel. I'd suggest baking or self-hardening clays.
