Description
Massing 40 tons the Fire Wasp was introduced and designed around the same time as the Shadow Hawk IIC and Griffin IIC, but whereas those Mechs were designed (initially) for close range brawling or long range fire support, the Fire Wasp was designed as a multi-role generalist. Unfortunately the Mech's weapons quite easily overwhelmed its cooling systems and the Mech quickly developed a reputation as a heat hog. Because of this and the success of its two stablemates, the Fire Wasp never really caught on and was only produced in limited numbers and immediately assigned to PGC formations.

The Mech would see a major spike in production in the immediate aftermath of Operation REVIVAL when Clan Diamond Shark was heavily exporting the Mech to other Clans who needed any Mech's to bolster their sorely depleted toumans and it was then that the Fire Wasp became known by Inner Sphere forces.
