Description PLEASE NOTE I have not used this method for six years and do not recommend it anymore. It was interesting, but it's hardly intuitive.

I finally finished up the colour dynamics tutorial I had promised, now conveniently available as a Christmas present from me to y'all. Thanks again to Maddy for showing me what the hell paintbrush colour dynamics even are, and to Wicked Sairah for commissioning me.

Enjoy, and Happy Chrismahanakwanzakuh!

this is an awesome tutorial and is helpful even if you don't use the color dynamics brush. I tried, but I just can't handle it! one line, I can manage, but the second I try to paint over or near it, I ruin whatever I've already laid down. It's just too much for me. Maybe on a lower flow/opacity!

This looks cool, but I seem to have a bit of trouble with it. This may be because I'm using CS as opposed to 7.0, but I set the layer to multiply, color dynamics to pen pressure, and had the foreground/background colors set correctly; but it just painted a solid dark purplish line, no matter how softly I dragged.
Did I set anything up incorrectly?

Okay, maybe something's up with my settings or something, but all I get setting my brush to Color Dynamics is a miasma of black pink and green, for all I pocked a color similar to what you used for the foreground, and white for the BG. Is there soemthing I'm missing? I even have the separate multiply layer.

Haha, funny I should see you here (not to mention the fact that you commented about 1000 years ago, so you might've figured this out already), but have you tried sliding the foreground/background jitter down to 0%?

I used this tutorial on my newest deviation.
[link]

I like how squishy it makes the color feel, I feel like I still have a lot to learn about this technique, but it was fun and I'm pretty happy with my first try.

Thanks for the tutorial.

Most definately one of the most useful tutorials I have come across, clear, concise and unique. All others seem to be variations upon the same method. Thank youso much for providing this!

photoshoptutors In reply to ??? [2006-05-20 21:38:59 +0000 UTC]

a neat tutorial

i think you should have maybe add bold to the part
where the shading layer is set to multiply
took me a second to notice that part within' the text

plus...
personally, i preffer the color adjustment
over the variations, since you can change your
outcome easier... we have a video on that one.

drop by the club
i'm thinking we'd like to post this one if you're
interested.

cheers
jaako

"Set the layer properties to Multiply." ... You have NO IDEA how much this simple sentance (along with the screenshots to show me where the buttons are) helped me. I can't wait to try finishing something on the computer.. in my OWN STYLE! *smiles* Many many thanks to you, and all the work you've done here.
