Description
PLEASE NOTE I have not used this method for six years and do not recommend it anymore. It was interesting, but it's hardly intuitive.I finally finished up the colour dynamics tutorial I had promised, now conveniently available as a Christmas present from me to y'all. Thanks again to Maddy for showing me what the hell paintbrush colour dynamics even are, and to Wicked Sairah for commissioning me.
Enjoy, and Happy Chrismahanakwanzakuh!

thanks for the toutorial, I thought this piece was done in ink and watercolor before until I saw this.. I love how the finished result looks like it was done with traditional media.. kickass!

Cool!
I'm printin' it out for furture referance!
That way I can have it to go by while offline!
I have dial up so I can't always log back online for helpful referances when workin' on a picture!
I'm definatly (SP?) addin' you to my deviant watch list!

How did you make your linework so clean? or am I misunderstanding what linework actually means..
I've sketched a couple stuff, scanned it.. and tried to make it as neat as yours...with an eraser, heh.
Is there a better way to clean it up?
Sorry I'm a little new with this.

I draw with pencil and then ink over it with pen- that way you don't have to deal with the sketch lines you first put down, unless, of course, you like the effect.

hehe.. lucky 3D modellers don't have to go through the hardship of mastering this technique... We just use raytrace, bumpmap and caustic refractions.

sound like a challenge. I'm pretty sure some fancy raytracing and kinetic simulations will disprove that

Sure, you may be able to raytrace, but I can draw things that can't possibly exist in three dimensions! Haha.

It still relies, at the heart of it all, on formulas and logic- therein lies the rub.

hello again, tried this tutorial out and while it gives great power to go between colors (incredibly even), it also adds a lot of chaos to it.. would take a LOT of practice to get where you are i'm thinking.

Well, depends- do you have traditional painting training? It helps the issue of having a steady hand.

heh, no, i dropped out of college before i got to that class. i'd say i have a fairly steady hand though, i've done miniatures for a year or two so i'm at least not the worst there is.

Awesome tutorial, I learned quite a few things and this might actually encourage me to use Photoshop a little more (I am a rabid fan of Painter and haven't played with Photoshop enough to become proficient at it nor produce the type of things that I would like).

This is pretty awesome. I haven't played around with brush stuff in Photoshop -- haven't used Photoshop to colour at all, actually -- in quite a while, but now I've been inspired to have another go at it. Thanks!
