Description Blender Render Tutorial...

WARNING -- !! VERY LARGE FILE !! 1024 X 10,000

Well, really it's a Blender Texture Mirror Transparency YafRay Render Tutorial as you can't render what is not there... - However I think it came out good, and I hope that everyone using Blender will benefit from it.

It's old and isn't very well suited for the newer versions. Thanks

Great tutorial but I just don't get how to move the lighting to the right spot

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SiathLinux In reply to avkhatri123 [2008-02-09 22:56:14 +0000 UTC]

The lighting is an object you can select it the same as any other object within the scene and move it around the same way as any mesh is moved.
Once you've selected the light you can also change the characteristics of the light by choosing the icon on the main buttons window that looks like a bulb.

Well, I realised that I couldn't find a decent tutorial on either of these subjects, and I had been telling you various things, and well thought it easier to SHOW you... (yes these tutorials on Blender are for you and two other friends of mine ... that are just really starting to use Blender - they both however use DAZ|Studios and other '2d' programs...

I'll also be doing some tutorials on the Gimp.

I actually made it because I couldn't find one when I needed it... and now that I've had to learn all this by 'hit and miss' taking a terrible amount of itme - I thought I'd share... I'll be making several more - but I wanted to be artistic for a bit and then dive back into tutorials..

I'll also be making some tutorials for Gimp.

not yet...

I'm working my Sci Fi Scene -- this will be the 2nd image of a gawdaweful number of images that I'm going to render to show the creation of the Sci Fi Scene Final Render (which will be the largest image I've ever render with Blender on this computer and will probably take DAYS to render... (so glad there is more than one computer in this apartment )

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-12-06 00:13:13 +0000 UTC]

Good...

This is the 2nd one, you'll need to go through the first one (wouldn't be bad to go through the first on a 2nd time, but on the 2nd time scale outbound to see the difference on the UV Map, and how it gets a shadow change because of the shape change...

After that, you should do this one... just keep doing this one over until your comfortable with how the various settings on materials, lighting, and render affect your final image...

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-12-06 00:47:03 +0000 UTC]

I render ten to one satisfactory image anyway. Render smaller first, much faster. Especially since I'm certain I won't be satisfied with it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-12-06 01:32:53 +0000 UTC]

I found that with YafRay - it takes nearly as long for smaller as it does for larger (but then it's not taking a massive amount of time anyway.... as my average render time for a 1024x768 is only about 9 minutes with full settings and a bunch of lights in the scene...) And Blender render is lightning quick compared to YafRay - and looking back at some of the things I've rendered - it's not a bad Render Engine when it comes down to it...

JAXMP In reply to SiathLinux [2009-01-08 03:47:23 +0000 UTC]

of course its not a bad render engine D:<
i've used for everything i've made recently, there are just a few quirks about it

Though with some upcoming events - it simply won't be nearly enough

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-12-07 03:18:23 +0000 UTC]

I think my long time renders run a half hour. The usual is under five minutes. But I'm usually rendering comparatively simple scenes with a good deal of transparent in them too.

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-12-07 03:31:27 +0000 UTC]

With Blender it's all about vertices/faces/lights/settings and the image I just put out was lighting intensive, all settings about maxed, and a lot of oversampling... but the image is somewhat what I wanted ...

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-12-07 03:58:11 +0000 UTC]

The sci-fi background?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-12-07 08:18:55 +0000 UTC]

Not really a background, it's more of the space... ie I now have a place to put all the sci fi gear I dream up

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-12-09 02:04:22 +0000 UTC]

Like your control panel, etc. I'd still call it a background, even if it's a room. Backdrop, blank scene... I sort of think of them synonymously. Though technically they're different critters.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-12-09 03:58:02 +0000 UTC]

You must be failing to realize that 1/2 of that scene was directly UV Mapped, an 1/2 of the remianing 1/2 was color mapped...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-12-09 14:46:51 +0000 UTC]

So it would be a scene, even though there isn't more than a room?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-12-09 15:37:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but only because DAZ sees everything as a scene....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

markopolio-stock In reply to SiathLinux [2007-12-09 15:42:31 +0000 UTC]

Right! And the modeling programs see everything as a model, even if it contains a whole scene.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SiathLinux In reply to markopolio-stock [2007-12-09 15:46:21 +0000 UTC]

yeah, Blender sees 'each part' of your model as a model. And sees the whole scene yet again as a model...

Well, I know it's a bit long - but I wanted to make sure that they could do the textures and THEN see how the render affected the materials especially... I'm glad you liked it
