Description I went through a session with my fellow co-worker "killskerry" on improving my pet cricket design, Chirp-Chirp, tonight. She did a great job. She made him really cute. This is a still shot from less than 30 seconds into chapter 2.

I see that you think Milo is cute. Now he just needs some confidence!

You'd better make let him know he's cute in some way!

Someone needs to tell 'em that, but I don't know who it'd be.

he could always get a girlfriend. But then again I'm sure he knows, I mean he has a mirror. But then again anthros are probably immune to their own cuteness just like humans are.

It's not in the cards for him in this story. Sure, after the main story if it at all continues, then he can have some failed relationships along the way.

I suddenly feel bad for him... Milo is a troubled little guy isn't he?

It's all a part of life for a lot of people, including myself. Sometimes people just never find the "one".

I might someday, but I refuse to look for a girlfriend until I have a career to prove to her that I am somebody. Instead of a (At the moment) loser, writer wannabee.

That sounds a lot like me back in my late teens and early 20's. I felt the same way about myself and wanted to be a writer. It took me some time, but I found myself on the correct career path, but I feel that I sacrificed my social side for it. I hope you don't make that same mistake.

I hope not either.

Luckily I have the internet to keep my social status in tact.

I am just no good talking with girls though.

Oh, I've always been like that and it's murder. Some guys seem to have the confidence and whatever it else it takes to go right up to someone. I'm the opposite of that and it just murders me. All but one of my exes have been because I met them online.

You can thank killskerry for that one. She took my pre-existing design for his pet cricket and made him even cuter. It's still going to be a few good months at least before chapter 2 is completed. I need to get other people to work and animate with me if I'm going to produce these things at a faster rate, or else lessen the quality and style and have to have them come out quicker. It's good to see people are occasionally accidentally finding my stuff.

Yeah, you can check her stuff out too. She's a really good illustrator, great with color, and knows what it is that makes characters appealing. Character design has always been one of my weaknesses.

Hehe. Just saw your Ironman 2 trailer thingymabob. I like your sense of humor.

I've been in the biz for a couple years now as an animator, and went to school for it, so I might know a thing or two. I love what you can do with animation as a medium.

Anybody can post to DA, so there aren't a lot of pros in the arts that use it. Since I have this episodic animation I'm working on, I needed to find a way to get it out there for people to see. Nobody knows who the hell I am, so why not use DA. So far it's been the best promotion.

Yoyokilla In reply to Sprybug [2010-05-17 19:25:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for taking the time to reply and check out my work. I ALWAYS appreciate any kind of feedback on my pieces. Makes me feel more amp to create more.

Unfortunately DA can be a bit harsh. It doesn't seemed like a very balanced system to me. Don't sweat it if you dont get enough promotion just yet, give yourself a year and i'm sure you will be recognized for your talent.

But if this isn't your first account you already know that.

I watched your animation as well, pretty impressive. How long did it take you to complete that?

Ah yeah one more thing, there are loads of other sites you can publish your work on as well. Google is your friend.

peace

I'm not worried, cause I'm new. Besides how does anybody know to look for my stuff unless they know about me, or my work in the first place? It's why I've been placing T&C in a ton of groups that might have anything to do with it to help promote it. I think I have the animation in about a dozen different groups. If people will like it, they'll tell others (hopefully).

Well, I played with it for months before settling on the story idea and designs. Then came several months of pre-production with script, storyboards, finalizing character designs, then building them and rigging them in flash. Once I cut an animatic (the boards timed out with dialog as well), then I started making the backgrounds that I would need for different scenes along with props. Once that was done, then I popped the rigged characters in and started key posing then animating. It took about a year to do, but most of that was pre-production, that's why chapter 2 will probably come out in late summer.

I've tried to Google in the past on where to put my animation (besides newgrounds, which only accept SWF's), is there anywhere else that you may know of? Thanks.

Unfortunately, Newgrounds only takes SWF's. T&C is a MOV. Sure, I made it in flash, but special effects, editing, and soundtracking took place in other software, making a final MOV of it, so I can't put it on there. However, I am planning on making a purely flash trailer/teaser for T&C, so I can have a SWF of something from it, and then putting that up. Then in the description (and at the end of the trailer), I'll put a link to where they can watch the whole thing. I'll check out the other sites that you suggested and see if they'd work out for T&C, and if they'd accept formats such as MOV (and about 100MB for video size).

Thanks,
Sprybug.

You can always import the final product into flash.

CS5 should be able to import loads of formats, and if you do your editing in after effects there MUST be some sort of way to integrate the two programs.

Worse comes to worse, you can hypercam it. Convert to swf.

worst or worst. eh its the internet you get the idea.

Well, I'm working with Frankenstein's monster over here. Combo of PC & Mac systems with Flash 8, CS3, AE CS3, Final Cut Pro, etc. I tried importing the final product into Flash, but it looked like crap at 10MB (NG's file size limit), so I'm just gonna make a pure flash SWF trailer from my flash clips, upload that, and then tell people where they can see the full one.

Yoyokilla In reply to Sprybug [2010-05-20 01:45:04 +0000 UTC]

You can always mail the admin dude. Every now & again they will bump the size limit for users who ask. Seeing how profesional your work is don't even worry. They WILL increase the upload size for ya.

Hey, if they do and you have the number one flash on there website for a few weeks think you could pass some of the fame on me ?

Sprybug In reply to Yoyokilla [2010-05-21 01:53:56 +0000 UTC]

We'll see.

BTW, I don't mind making a separate teaser for NG. If it means the quality doesn't look like garbage and I can forward the people who actually care to where the real deal is then

Flash. These 2 characters are flash animated, so they need to be built and rigged up in flash. All vector based. Both of these characters are made up of dozens of parts.
