Tooth and ClawIssue 2

"Safe at Home"
I was originally going to take a week off before beginning issue #2, but I got this one done faster than I thought. Most of the time was used to redesign Flower's head. Still not 100% satisfied, but she looks more female than she did before.

Finally had the chance to pop in for a visit. :3
I'm really digging that angle there, and the way the logo is designed.
And lol, Ma on the bottom left panel from a distance reminds me of Aunt Mammy from Tom and Jerry. xDD The fur and I guess the hair.

Hmm, I wonder why that is. In Tom & Jerry you never see the faces of the human characters. Everything is always shot from chest and lower with them. I touched Flower up a bit from last time. I added the redesign that all the muskrats got, plus gave her longer "hair" to help with the feminine side. Made her eyelashes bigger and got rid of the baggy cheeks cause they took away from her femininity and never really showed up well anyhow. Gave her a bit more rounded chin, but kept the small "turkey neck" to help show age.

Probably just the fur, and the black hair. xD Maybe not so much Mammy as maybe So White from the Sebben Dwarfs cartoon. I wouldn't know why though; the comparison up and came to me. Then again maybe her dress, perhaps.

Get familiar with the terrible, terrible movie called "The Room". It's reaching Rocky Horror status. People go to screenings of this movie to yell things at the screen, throw plastic spoons (if you see a video of a screening with audience participation then you'll understand), make jokes, yell out the rediculous lines when they come up. It's hilarious. Some famous lines are "I did not hit her, that's bullshit, I did naaaaaaaht. Oh, hi Mark." Or just "Oh, hi Mark." by itseelf. More are "I definitely have breast cancer", mainly because the reading of that line is so non-chelant and it gets passed off as if it was never said about 10 seconds later. "Hi Doggy" and the whole 25 second flower shop scene that was an overly fast paced mess. And of course the line I gave you "That's quite a story, Mark." I've seen a few YTP's that use lines and scenes from this god-awful mess of a movie.

Ooooh, I've heard about that. xD Newgrounds made a video game about it too, which is hilarious. I've never watched it, but I've heard about it's notoriety.

It should be on their wikipedia if you can't find it. xD It's very extensive in all about it. Adult Swim even had a crack at it, lmao.
Anyhoo, gonna add another page up in a few minutes.

Great start to a greater comic
by the way, why did you take so much time with Milo's mom?

I'm not sure if you've watched Chapter 2 or not, but I was never fully satisfied with her look and then when I went to update her for the new overall muskrat look, I wanted to try to make her look better overall too. Lots of little tweaks were involved.

This is the cutest comic yet.
He's so sleepy looking
In the first panel he looks like a little kid. How old is he supposed to be?

He's a young adult. I noticed on certain expressions and angles makes him look a little younger.

Do the characters ages not go by numbers? Or did you not set an actual age for him?

It's something I've played with and never put it in stone. It's why I avoid saying how old someone is at all costs. I can't decide how long these guys live for, when they reach maturity, etc. I could go and say something like 16 muskrat years without it being a definite number.

"Let the readers decide themselves" I always liked that. Brian Jacques did it all the time.

I can throw that blame on the cute master Kasey Gifford (killskerry). She took my original design and made him 20% cuter!

Heh, nice bed!
I sometimes wonder what sort of pets might exist in Danbuster's world... caterpillars, for example...?
Only actual "pet" in the cast at the moment is Retsubnad's gryphon, Thoronraw - and that's more of a mutual agreement, since Retsy rescued Thory (not sure how to shorten that) from a cage in a freak show.

It was an idea that I played with and it made sense to me that insects to them would be the equivalent to our "animals". So naturally an insect would be a pet, and as you'll see later big Hercules beetles act as cart "animals". Oh, and all the muskrats use a nest as their bed. So do many of the other species. There are some that will use the standard bed, but I haven't figured out which ones do and don't yet.

They had a similar principal in the old Dangermouse cartoon, I think - the evil megalomaniac toad, Baron Silas Greenback, had a large fluffy white caterpillar called Nero. You know, instead of a big white fluffy cat, like with Blofield from James Bond!
With Danbuster's world, they generally sleep in beds - but the birds all have nests. Frederick, being a ferret, prefers a hammock - as do his otter folk (foster family).
If it comes to creatures like horses, goats, sheep, etc, I guess they'd prefer a straw palliase.

I know I won't have any animals that big in this story. I want to keep the sizes pretty relative, so once they hit town, you'll see rabbits, skunks, turtles, possums, squirrels, chipmunks, rats, various birds, etc. I have yet to design any of these critters.
