Description
First and foremost, the original lineart was both drawn by and color requested by and can be found here ---> [link]It's Duran and Angela from Seiken Densetsu 3, which is part of the Mana series and was only released in Japan.
Hence why I had never heard of it before it was requested. I did some quick research on it and colored the two characters from their Light/Light form (which I didn't realized was discussed in the comments on the original). I did it by looking at game sprites - I'm actually amazed that I came to the same conclusion. So that means Duran is a Paladin and Angela is a Grand Divina.
Anyhow, I had nothing to go on for the sword, so I just went with gold hilt and a red jewel since those seems like staple combinations. I also wasn't sure what to do with the bulge around Duran's junk, so I colored it into a codpiece to break up a lot of that turquoise pant area.
As far as my work, I think I made improvements on coloring hair on Duran (not enough on Angela to make a real impact), but again discovered that I'm weak in large areas with no guidelines. Since I do somewhat of a bastardized cel shading, it's hard to find the right balance of highlight/midtone/shadow to make them not look like I just smear-tooled a bunch of colors together (which I do). Noteworthy areas where that shows through are Duran's pants and that sash coming off Angela's outfit.
The original pic had Duran's legs, but I chopped them considering that area wasn't really sketched out too much and that I did an awful job initially coloring the greaves so I figured it would be better to chop the image down than wreck it by having some garbage coloring down there.
Took about three and a half hours start to finish. Let me know what you think.

Remember me? Well, regardless, I must say I'm impressed with the job you did here. The colors you used on Duran, his torso and the sword in particular, are great. The colors you picked for Angela's outfit are also wonderful, they readily compliment her flamboyant personality. You can actually get this game and run it on an emulator, if you want to. I myself played the game on an emulator and I loved it. I do have one question though, isn't Angela's hair supposed to be violet? Or, does it look blonde when she's in her Light/Light form? Well, just wondering. In any case, great work and I hope the project I suggested also goes well. Thanks and catch you later.

Yeah, in the Grand Divina form her hair is blonde, so that's what I went with. To get most of the colors for the project, I just eye-droppered off of the game sprits - hence why Duran's hair has such a good mix of red/orange/yellow in it.

First and foremost i have to say that that is AWSOME! Thanks dude!!
its amazing that you did come to the same concluse on the classes! I was worried that there was too little armor on Duran really to make out a class for him
Nice colors! I likes!
Thnx again!

Well, as for Duran, I couldn't really tell just by the armor, but I figured if Angela is Light/Light, that he probably should be too - and that way their color schemes were kind of a similar too.
