Description A 2D interior architectural rendering produced from my imagination in a vector program called XaraX. One of my older works.

**Edit:**

Wow, the only thing that told me I had a DD was the number of comments, so I couldn't figure it out!? Thank you so much, I truly truly appreciate it.
Anyway, a little deeper explenation. This was created all in a vector program, the only 'raster' elements are a texture I placed on the walls and the floor boards at the end, inside the program. I'd highly recommend XaraX, it's a very intuitive program if you have any interest in vector art at all. I can't remember how long it took, but probably off and on for 3+- weeks? No clue how many hours?

a lot have asked for a link to the program, sooo here
XaraX
XaraX1 is the program you'll want to look at there. Download the trial and play with it for a while, very different than Illustrator, but it's been more intuitive for me (I've used both), and it has quite a few innovative tools to allow you out of the bounds of a straight-edged 'vector' look if that's not your thing. But it's NOT for Mac (I use both mac and PC frequently, which is why I know both programs). If you only use mac, get illustrator... after all, it's the artist, not his/her tools.

thanks again everyone for taking the time to comment

I thought I was reasonable with vectors, but looking at this... wow. Where can I get the software: must play.

Heehee, a DD was the only explanation, huh?

I thought it was a photo, looking at the thumbnail in the right sidebar just now. Looks just awesome! I've heard of XaraX myself, but never really knew what it's for or anything.

I'm admiring the leaves there... And the lighting, so REALISTIC!

Fantastic performance here!!! Congratulations for the colours. Only thing I don't like is the brightness on the left side from the picture (the one coming form the window). It's simply to bright there. There rest though - awesome

considering the winter we've (NY state) have had, I would absolutely love to go there and relax for about...eternity.

You have created such a warm, inviting piece. The colors are fantastic.

I am actually trying to give you a suggestion to improve it, but I really can't see anything besides - Make it a print!!

fantastic job - congrats on DD

Congratulations on the DD first of all. Next(ly?), beautiful artwork. The reality of the piece is incredible, yet because of the vector style it looks like just something is not quite right (and by right I mean real). It has that feel about it, like you're in a deam - everything around you looks real, the light is perfect, the feeling of the room is wonderfully comfortable and warm... but there is just something that is out of the ordinary! Beautiful!

Simply I am made an impression. Your work is incredible real and of extreme good-taste. The choice of the colors, the game between column’s vertical lines and the shades of these, the decoration, the light of the sun, everything creating a wonderful environment.
You really deserve the DD and

As a bit of a digital artist myself (in the past mainly, haven't done anything much in recent years, last thing I made which was any good was on the Atari Falcon) I can truly appreciate your vision and effort, and I give you a big pat on the back for making your vision such a great reality (in 2D picture form). Nowadays I am much more into 3D graphics, so would probably have tackled this with 3D modelling and a radiosity rendering solution (for the subtle lighting and shadows). So while I would advocate the 3D way, it's really nice to see someone keeping real talent and effort alive!

Like everyone else, it's hard to believe that this is vector! I'd love to see some progression shots of how you did it. Not because I don't believe you, but simply to see the work that's gone into it.

Is this is 3d render then composited or something? (excuse my ignorence). I don't know how you could have made that without 3d? the table and couches look amazing. I love the mood, excellent work!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SteveNewport In reply to Brons [2005-01-30 03:53:49 +0000 UTC]

No, this was all completely done in a 2D vector App called XaraX, an intuitive program that would rival Illustrator if it had enough money and advertising behind it. But it was all without a reference, straight from the head. I wanted to use my brain as the raytrace

If you don't know what vector is... it's basically a form of 2D imagery that is backed up by mathmatic equations for every shape/color/gradient/etc. So instead of pixels, it all has an equation and therefor can be enlarged infinitely without losing quality. I could export this image as a 15 foot wide print if I wanted retaining it's quality. It's a large quantity of layered shapes with different gradients on them to achieve the effects I need. send me a message if you have any questions
