Description A 2D interior architectural rendering produced from my imagination in a vector program called XaraX. One of my older works.

**Edit:**

Wow, the only thing that told me I had a DD was the number of comments, so I couldn't figure it out!? Thank you so much, I truly truly appreciate it.
Anyway, a little deeper explenation. This was created all in a vector program, the only 'raster' elements are a texture I placed on the walls and the floor boards at the end, inside the program. I'd highly recommend XaraX, it's a very intuitive program if you have any interest in vector art at all. I can't remember how long it took, but probably off and on for 3+- weeks? No clue how many hours?

a lot have asked for a link to the program, sooo here
XaraX
XaraX1 is the program you'll want to look at there. Download the trial and play with it for a while, very different than Illustrator, but it's been more intuitive for me (I've used both), and it has quite a few innovative tools to allow you out of the bounds of a straight-edged 'vector' look if that's not your thing. But it's NOT for Mac (I use both mac and PC frequently, which is why I know both programs). If you only use mac, get illustrator... after all, it's the artist, not his/her tools.

thanks again everyone for taking the time to comment

Haha, I'd love to, but the original file is on a hard-drive on a POS computer...
Also, it was made with a program that uses a different (better) type of vector coding, so it wouldn't look identical to this image when viewed as a PDF

SteveNewport In reply to Yamamoto-Kou [2005-05-18 16:47:08 +0000 UTC]

thank you very much! I appreciate it.
Vector art is different from 'raster' art (jpegs, bitmaps, tiffs, etc.) in that it uses mathmatical equations for every aspect of the image, i.e. A triangle that had a gradient from red to green would be backed by math to tell what angles and how long all the edges were and the transition between the colors. This means, simply, that it can be enlarged to an infinite size without losing quality. Raster images are based on pixels, millions of gridded, colored squares that when viewed at a size that the squares are discernable, it creates an image. Hope that helps!
thanks again

kool, I dont' even know what vector art is

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SteveNewport In reply to hunterinkoseh [2005-04-22 03:08:33 +0000 UTC]

haha, well, I'll explain it real quick. 'Raster' (jpegs, bitmaps, tiffs, etc.) is imagery based on pixels. Vector is imagery based on math. Every line, shade, color and curve has a formula behind it in the programming that allows it to be enlarged to a virtually infinite size without losing quality. However, since you're not painting directly, and you can't depend on the natural textures a brush gives you for interest, it's a little harder to make it look convincing, creating the spontaneity of real life. This is why you'll see a lot of vector work that resembles multiple cut pieces of paper, which can produce some interesting stuff as well. Let me know if you have any questions!

*g* I want you to design my house

Amazing work! I thought it was a photo when I saw the thumb! I absolutely LOVE the colors, and the way they make the whole room glow... The picture on the wall was an interesing and nice touch, as are the hanging plants. Does the Picasso pic have any significance in the piece?

The one thing that I think looks a bit odd, is the light fixtures (I'm assuming that's what they are) on the underside of the horizontal beam -- they look irregular.

i know that everybody else says the same, but i just couldn't believe this is vector art. in-cre-di-ble. wow. i'd never figure out how this can be done with a vector program - i guess you could do something like this with illustrator as well...

this is a definitive frigging instant

carondelet [2005-03-18 04:42:25 +0000 UTC]

This is amazing. The color palette is very warm, and the lighting in the piece seems natural (as in, how you've achieved the space being lit by the sunlight on the exterior is true to life in my opinion). The textures are well done; I would expect the floor to sound like wood, the columns to feel like marble, and for the metal railings to be cold to the touch. The only thing that seems a bit off is the proportion of the pot lights in the planter beam -- it seems as though they should lie flatter from that given this perspective, but that could just be me. I think it's the center potlight that throws my eye off slightly. In any event, as this is purely from your imagination, I think it's stunning. Well executed and, really, amazing.

I could almost sit on the cushions before that sleek marble/glass top table.
