Very interesting methodology here, but I think I'll stick to what I know for now... less confusing

How about a tutorial on brushes(or have I missed that one already...)?

hi,
i have a question, if i see a b&w picture off of anywhere and i want to color it, can i still use this method?

Thanks!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tamyra In reply to cameramanlg [2010-02-24 05:35:36 +0000 UTC]

no, sadly, not to my knowledge. if such is the case, you might wanna ask the person who made it for the .psd file. the black ink needs to be on its own layer for this to work.

any other questions, lemme know, hope that helps

Huh interesting. Usually my line art is the topmost layer and from there its just a coloring book. I guess this helps add color to the line art? I have to say I love even your line art it has personality, the way the brush is thicker and thinner in some parts rather than just the same width for everything.

Funny that some simple steps cleared up a few questions I'd had. Also, do you scan in sketches to ink or do you sketch directly in PS?

Tamyra In reply to MasterOfSelfDestruct [2010-02-23 01:50:40 +0000 UTC]

scan in; very bad at direct tablet sketching XD

I've been having trouble with this tutorial. I have photoshop elements 4.0...Could that be a reason? I can't seem to do clipping mask...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tamyra In reply to TakuniChan [2010-02-23 00:55:03 +0000 UTC]

maybe, I would not know...last elements I had was 3.0. if that's the case, you could still lock the transparency on the lineart layer and just color each section by freehand. it might take longer and require a bit more nit-picking, but it's not too different.

hope that helps!
