Description     L4C3 2634609.7, a Type 1 American infantry clone, was completed at L4 Colony 3 on 20 March, 2501.  She was immediately shipped to the joint NATO training facility on Ganymede for basic training, and from there to various peacekeeping missions in the local systems.  Her first taste of battle came in the jungles of Sigma Draconis 4, a terraforming project claimed by the Soviets.  In November of 2513, her ten year tour of duty, plus a combined two years aboard the sleeper transports common to the era, was complete.  "Lace 609", as she came to be known, boarded a sleeper bound for the Sol system to be processed and discharged.

609 awoke to the glare of flashlights in her face and voices calling out that they had found another survivor.  Emerging from her HTI module emaciated and unable to move under her own power, she was taken to the infirmary of the rescue craft to begin her long recovery.  It was there she learned that she had awakened in the year 2583.  After the initial shock, her mind reeled at the sickening realization that as her fellow passengers had slowly died around her over the decades, their bodies had been recycled by onboard systems and in turn fed to those who remained.

Once 609 was again fit for duty, she was drafted into the service of Lt. Colonel Cote, who's special forces unit had been responsible for her rescue.  As she had been officially listed as deceased for nearly seventy years, no records of her rescue or reactivation existed.  This made her ideal for operations dependent upon plausible deniability.  More importantly, at least to her, she felt that she owed her benefactors.  She had been spared slow starvation aboard a dead vessel solely by Cote's intervention.  Another tour seemed a small price to pay.  The way 609 saw it, she had little choice but to re-enter service.

I'm pretty sure the indoctrination helped with that.

Here we have the clone soldier first seen holding Lt. Col. Cote's trenchcoat in Shik Prisoners getting a bit of target practice with her old XM16E1, one of the few artifacts recovered from the sleeper where she was found.  Because she first appeared holding someone's coat, I've taken to calling her "Coathanger" just because I never had a name for her before now, though clones of her pattern is more commonly referred to as "Violets".

Loved my old M16A2 when I was in the National Guard.  Had the M203 grenade launcher under the barrel, but couldn't hit the barn side of a broad with it.  Must be a downer to learn that those you served with are no longer around.

While rereading the story of her revival I was hit with the thought that, maybe, she should be called 'Lacey'.  Or maybe 'Niner'?  How about Lacey Niner?

I took my time with this one because I really wanted to highlight how lovely it looks, Khal. At first glance, it might easily dismissed as a mere profile image - girl with a gun, sure, those are a dime a dozen. But if you give it it's due study, you see so much more. First, and maybe most imortantly, the colors. The bright light on her body, contrasting with the deep shadows. The horizon disappearing in a hot, billowing haze. It's a hot day. The sun is out in force. Maybe the an unhealthy degree, even. But there she is, in full regalia, weapon ready. The earthy colors of her uniform also stand out, which is surprising - they blend with the ground only in theory, while in reality they stick out and bring attention directly to her. A head full of bright, blonde hair and alabaster skin caps off a very eye-catching figure.

Excellent work, Khal. Truly excellent! : )

I love how the background is simplistic yet detailed at the same time. The mountains in the distance and the cracks in the dirt it's all awesome(including Coathanger), stop this wizardry at once its to much for my special eye's.

Don't think I'd trust a ship that recycled the deceased in that manner. That's a heck of a story and an interesting way to pick up a nickname. The background is stark, but is pretty in its simplicity. The dreaded coathanger has arrived!

Legwarmers seem like an odd thing to wear in the desert.
But given that its a future version of NATO, it doesn't surprise me...

Good work, comrade!

Thanks!  I practically wore out my mouse trying different contrasts for the shading.  I think it worked out well!

Excellent...she has a name!  Lace is a good one too as it can be short for something or just left as is.  Of course it's not the kind you say like you're her best friend.

Even better is that you literally left her as an administrative anonymous...a "woman with no name" in the service of her sole benefactor but not out of purest loyalty but instead just recognizing there is no purpose but this tour of duty before finding one's own life.

Quite figuratively (but literally on paper) a "ghost soldier."

Yeah, I've been meaning to figure out a way to get her story out there for a while now.  Happy to see the reception it's getting!

Kudos.  If you don't mind maybe one day I could flesh it out in story especially against the shiks.
