Description
Sort of a promo shot for "NCC", a sort of nebulous collection of Star Trek stories cobbled together by my friend and I. Still don't quite have a main plot thread or anything, but the characters are starting to come together. Here we have some of the bridge crew of the USS Saipan, NCC-68258. Captain Li Wong, First Officer Lt. Commander Viladi, Operations Officer Lieutenant T'Shaara, and Chief Medical Officer, Commander Vael, in around 2358. Clearly Vael is standing on a box for this one.

Lovely drawing.
Maybe you should change the registry to 56942 or 66942. That would more likely fit with the New Orleans-class around 2358.

Thank you!
Valid point. I had considered making the registry number comparable to say, the Kyushu or the Thomas Paine, but the numbers have never quite made an abundance of sense in canon, so I went a bit crazy with it. The 86942 number is the product of a joke regarding the inspiration for the Saipan's Captain. It's a long and dull story.

Actually, if you look close enough, most of the time the registries in TNG made sense in some way. Ships of a specific class had numbers within the same range. The Oberth-class might have been way out of range with its 50000s numbers. The Ambassadors had 10000 or 25000 numbers, the Excelsior 14000 and 40000 (okay that was a bit high), the Miranda something between those, and the newest ships like Nebula started around 65000, I think.
For that reason, btw, I think the Akira-class is older than the Galaxy-class.

Cool, looks good!
Nice to see one of the forgotten ship classes getting some action.

With the New Orleans class -- yeah it's a smaller ship, but it feels as though it would work better if it were based off the Nebula class.
Remove the pod and stand, turn the nacelles and pylons right side up, and move the pylons back and connect them to the spine and shorten the part of the pylons that go upwards.
🤔

If I'm not mistaken, the Nebula and New Orleans were developed at the same time, think the Nebula's first appearance is the Wolf 359 graveyard, same as the New Orleans, so it makes sense that they didn't base a kitbash off a kitbash at that time.

Very true. But the way they did the New Orleans class didn't quite settle with me.
