Why would Scyther fly? Instead, it has a large amount of slicing attacks, including false swipe. IT CAN CUT POKEMON WITH IT'S SCYTHES AND MAKE SURE THE POKEMON DOESN'T FAINT/DIE FROM THE INFINITE CUTS!!! O__O

But why choose to make Scyther fly when you can teach it moves for its nice sharp scythes? Slash, cut, night slash, X-scissor, fury swipes, false swipe, air slash, fury cutter...that is quite a lot of moves, and a pokemon can only have 4 moves at a time...plus all the other moves Scyther has...also, it would sort of ruin the disadvantage point of Scizor. Scizor is heavy due to being steel, and is not capable of flight, having to wear a wind-catching cape in one of the episodes just to "fly". So making Scyther unable to fly prevents Scizor from undoing its disadvantage.

Well, I'm just looking at the logic of how a small bird Pokemon like Pidgey could Fly a 10 year old boy, and a Scyther cannot. Not really the typing, moves or the weight of its' evolution. (I guess it's how you look at it)!

Well, one would likely evolve a pidgey first. If not, then, well, Pidgey lacks a large variety of moves compared to Scyther. Scyther has such a large movepool that one move missing from the list would not matter that much. I suppose scyther could fly, but I would have a large number of moves at higher priority. I don't know about you, but I'd find Fly for scyther as helpful as splash or tackle...yeah, I prefer other moves for scyther.

Scyther has a large movepool, I agree. But it's not the first time a Pokemon has been given an unnecessary move! But all I'm saying is this: technically, Scyther could and should know Fly. And this is without taking the movepool into reason.

golurk I understand, it flies kinda like a jet, dodrio apparently can run faster than the sound barrier and jump somehow amazingly far because of that, and pikachu, seriously, pikachu of all of these pikachu makes the least sense
scyther and butterfree should learn fly, ok buterfree maybe not (its kinds weak in that regard) but idk why mantine would learn fly, I mean it could jump out of the water and maybe glide, but I doubt it could fly

I agree with most of your points!
But the fact that a Ghost/Ground type Pokemon can learn Fly instead of the three who cannot, who would be logically more Fly-worthy is strange.
Also, Mantine has been seen flying in the show/3d games.

as for mantine I never realized it flew in the show, and in the 3d games I just assumed it was like how all water only poke'mon hovered above the ground, even magicarp can fly in poke'mon stadium

gyarados (water/flying) didnt learn fly,but i think he only got flying type to dont be weak to grass,as well he cant either learn a flying attack

Dodrio can learn Fly cuz the Japanese version of the move is called "Sky Jump." :3 Soooo essentially, it's just Dodrio jumping into the air, I guess. XD

Not a normal Pikachu, but in Pokemon Yellow, you can catch Pikachus with Fly/Surf in Yellow Forest.
