Each Drawing varies in side though they are no larger than 7 x 7Pencil on Paper
*** This is technically a re-posting of this illustration. I plan to do so with all of my Potter art work building up (hopefully) to having some new stuff to share there after. So if you feel like you've seen this before - you probably have. On the upside, I'm sharing it at a larger resolution and without the DeviantArt watermark on it now ***
I did more drawings for this chapter than I'd originally planned, but I just couldn't stop myself. For one thing, I felt the need to show a few of the kids getting sorted... and as I did I realized I should do at least one from each house. I was thrilled with howΒ Hermione turned out - so eager to be sorted and begin schooling. Malfoy turned out alright, but something about the drawing just isn't working for me. The other two are Justin Finch Flechly because I knew I'd be drawing/painting him for sure in book 2, and then Mandy Brocklehurst... no specific reason, just cause.
Speaking of sorting - I tried to base the hat on drawing J.K.Rowling did of it. I like the way it turned out.
Though they were a little more "Ron like" than I'd intended in this drawing, I just loved the drawing I did of George and Fred shouting "We got Potter!" So I kept them in their lankier than normal incarnations.

I love Hermione with the hat on, the twins cheering, but, especially, your Snape looking at Quirrell and Harry's scar hurting,... when I read the book for the first time, I almost didn't notice that scene... when I re-read it (as soon as I had finished it, in fact), I got the goosebumps when I realized what it meant... like OH, MY...

That's certainly a moment that's understood very differently in the aftermath

That's so sweet that you drew a child being sorted for every house. Your Hermione is the best -- her facial expression is everything! Very nice job on the ghosts and Peeves. Your Baron came out creepier than I could have imagined him! I like the addition of Fred, George and Percy in this set of vignettes.Β

Thanks - but it only seemed fair to include the other houses in the sorting scene I'm glad you liked how everyone turned out!

I haven't mentioned this before, but in all your drawings you are so immensely detail orientated. I absolutely adore that. especially in the world of Harry Potter where it just adds that little bit of extra mystique.

Thank you for all the kind words and compliments you've been giving me and my art. I've always been a detail oriented person and love the little touches that can add so much to a scene - so it's nice to hear when someone notices/appreciates those little efforts. That said, I mostly feel like I'm just conveying what's in my mind when I read the books... which we have J.K.Rowling to thank for

Is that Peeves the Poltergiest with Percy the Prefect?
