16 x 22Gouache and Watercolour paints with coloured pencil (and a little bit of marker) on watercolour paper
*** This is technically a re-posting of this illustration. I plan to do so with all of my Potter art work building up (hopefully) to having some new stuff to share there after. So if you feel like you've seen this before - you probably have. On the upside, I'm sharing it at a larger resolution and without the DeviantArt watermark on it now ***
I was super happy with the dynamics of this painting - the curling string of people, all trailing behind Fawkes. I was thrilled with the way it worked out - except for Fawkes himself - the angle was just odd, and thoughI put in all the details, the angle made him look a little... odd. Obviously not so odd that I started over - but I definitely look forward to painting him again, with a better angle and view.
Oh, and I had some fun drawing/pinting all the different levels and kinds of pipes... one of the few times I enjoyed painting a background.

really cool!!!! I absolutely love the perspective you've chosen and painted brilliantly!! Also, it's cool that you've shown how dirty they are, without it being to much -dunno how to say it- gore or eurgh

It's details like being dirty )or covered in blood) that can really make an illustration come together - in my eyes anyway

Very good page, though I was kind of hoping there'd be a bit more brightness to it, since they're leaving the Chamber and all.
Still it's good!

I do get caught up in the "reality" of scenes sometimes, and I figured it would be dark down in the depths of the castle, which is where they technically are. Perhaps, I should have had them higher up

Sorry I disappeared - my computer took a poop on me and I've been working on getting it up and running again. But I just posted the final paintings of "Chamber of Secrets". There's one more set of things to post before I start posting "Prisoner of Azkaban" - you'll see what they are - but yes, we're getting there. Heck - I can't wait to start working on the paintings again!
