11x17Pencil on Bristol Board - with some digital work in PhotoShop for the type
*** This is technically a re-posting of this illustration. I plan to do so with all of my Potter art work building up (hopefully) to having some new stuff to share there after. So if you feel like you've seen this before - you probably have. On the upside, I'm sharing it at a larger resolution and without the DeviantArt watermark on it now ***
All of the books are getting a sort of "bonus illustration that would slip on the inside front cover of the book it was for. Philosopher's Stone got one of the vignette drawings painted, Chamber of Secrets got an original piece of Lockhart, made to look like a signed photo (I even printed it out on on glossy photo paper), but Prisoner of Azkaban got something a bit more involved... it got a comic book.
If you don't know, for charity J.K.Rowling wrote a short story (very short - it all fit on a single post card) about James Potter and Sirius Black in their youth. I adapted that story into a short comic book that would. The interiors are all in pencil (like I do my vignette drawings) but for the cover I did a full painting
The right half of the page is just half of the cover painting in black & white to act as the inside cover... though it pairs nicely with how the story ends - a happy accident. But page 8 is by itself on the left.

I love it! Β Any coincidence that the two police officers resemble Oliver Hardy (sans moustache) and Stan Laurel?

Just following the story's descriptions But now that you mention it, that could have been fun to make them look like them intentionally.
