FORWARD: Gnolls and Gremlins belong to !PHEW...DID IT. Well...did four of them tonight.
I didn't put any names on them, and just gave some brief details on them! Hope you don't mind! I kinda gotta go to bed now! I'm already an hour late!
DO TELL ME THO...
1) Which one is your favorite?
2) Should I put any of these up for adoption?
Anyway, see ya tomorrow with more new stuff!
EDIT: Characters have been adopted for free! First come first serve!
Numbers 9, 10, and 16 are for
Number 5 is for
Number 12 is for
And fret not, for there is more to come!
--------------------------
MENEHUNE
1) A head figures of her local village, she does things in a rather stern, but well-meaning manner, and takes belief in divine beings very seriously. She is No. 5's mother.
2) A hardened warrior, who wastes no opportunity to show off his masculinity and valor. However, so his face is not associated with violence, he wears a mask, of a local spirit of warfare, to carry that reputation for him.
3) A beautiful and supple-bodied performer who is well-learned in many forms of traditional dance. However, her free spirit and rebellious attitude has also gotten her to take up learning modern, "new generation" dances as well.
4) A rather plump and idle player of the ukelele, who is actually quite beloved in his local neighborhood for being a merry-spirited joker, and a player of truly beautiful music.
5) A very shy young student, she went from her village to go study in more "modern" communities, albeit always told by her mother to never forget her roots. Albeit she's VERY nervous of the outside world.
---------------------------
BIRDFOLK
6) A pious and faithful priest of Ziz among his people, he is half-Kakapo. And he had been urged by his parents to have children, to support his dying family tree. Unfortunately for them, he has sworn chastity.
7) A rather disgruntled and world-weary old man, he is half-Swordsbill Hummingbird, and he still maintains skill in high-speed combat. Although he's trying to climb the social ladder, so he may finally leave the military scene in good grace.
8) A highly flamboyant and handsome performer, he is half-Greater Bird of Paradise, and his effeminate appearance and mannerisms don't stop him from being a highly successful singer and dancer, known for his angellic voice. (Adopted by )
9) A naive yet admirably dutiful young girl, she is half-Bulbul, and she is currently under No. 6's tutelage as his altar server. She has also taken extensive classes in choir, as well as reciting passages from the Book of Ziz.
10) A brave and honorable holy soldier, she is half-Secretary Bird, and has sworn herself to perfecting the art of killing Sea Serpents. However, she is flawed in that she sees little threat in everything else, leading her to underestimate non-Serpentine enemies.
-----------------------
GREMLIN
11) A classic example of a typical Gremlin child. She only wears a paper bag, and has a hat made out of a torn out propeller of some especially small plane. She calls herself a "Paper Bag Princess".
12) A righteous and prudent warrior, he calls himself a "Trash Paladin", and arms himself with junk he uses as weapons and armor. However, his faith in Ziz is completely real and honest, and this was the best way he could think of to serve his will.
13) A quirky and airheaded fellow, he is a pilot of the Gremlin's "Air Force", and he is considered handsome by other Gremlins. He is a champion among them, despite the fact that he frequently crashes his aircrafts.
14) A proud and overly theatrical man, he is a chef. Well...to his people he is. Dishes such as Spaghetti with Maple Syrup, Meatloaf with Marshmallow Sauce, and other dishes of that sort are his specialty. I mean...eating trash all the time changes your tastes.
15) A lusty and flirtatious young woman, she is considered stunning among Gremlins. She often wears gaudy, mismatched clothes and too much makeup, but it sure gets Gremlin heads turning her way! Lately, she's been into leopard-print.
------------------------
GNOLLS
16) A member of the Bitter Tongues, she is a young child, but her magic powers are beginning to awaken. She hopes that she can master her craft soon, to be able to control it, and contribute to her clan.
17) A member of the Cracked Teeth, she is a highly accomplished warrior who's well on her way to becoming the new chieftain. She wears the skin of a Dire Leopard she has slain on her back. However, she hopes to hunt better game to prove her strength.
18) A member of the Salt Fangs, he is a simple worker who works long and hard hours at the Salt Fang Mine. All so that he can go home to a "loving" family consisting of a warrior wife, and a bunch of rather vicious daughters. His life is difficult.
19) A wealthy woman who insists on her royal title, she is the Queen of the Salt Fangs, and her ownership of the mines and labor has gotten her extremely rich. This leads her to spend it very lavishly, albeit she avoids violating the word of Warlord Kisikuda Tbana. (Adopted by )
20) A vagrant who claims to belong to no tribe, he is an unusual example of a male Gnoll living outside of normal Gnollish gender roles. He wanders places outside of the Savannah Kingdom, to help other communities, and to dance. (Adopted by )

Would it be alright if I also adopted 19 please, dude?
Fair warning, I'm gonna be going through the old adoptable sheets, see if there's any others I might be able to use, so expect a few more comments like this in the next few minutes

You know, I imagined so too! I figured his only limitation was not having better gear, but perhaps a go with the Lanterns can fix that for him.

Awww, thank ya very much dude. ^^
I also gotta say, I do appreciate how fabulously flamboyant Number 8 is. I can imagine the same goes for many other male Birdfolks, considering how colorful male birds tend to be in real life.
Say, would you like to adopt any of them? They're for free!

You're welcome, Tipsy! ^^
I'm not completely sure if I want to adopt, but if I would I'd probably adopt Number 8.
I'm also thinking of possibly drawing 10 different Fetch(s) - 5 who are Fetch(s) from the Old Crypt King and 5 who are Fetch(s) from Maeve.

Tell you what, you don't have to if you don't want to. But just saying, I'm probably not gonna use him anyway, so he's all yours if/whenever you'd like.
Meanwhile, I think the Fetch drawings might help give me a better idea of what they look like, or what conventions they tend to follow! So far, I've just seen one example.

I would just like to say for starters that you NAILED the gremlins! I mean, perfect in design and story on all accounts! I knew you'd pull it off
The gnolls are all designed fantastically, but I would like to add a little bit of context to the last three
18: This poor guy probably lives on the fringes in a rural village, that's where most of the traditionalists live. In a gnoll society that isn't at war, and needs laborers like him more than ever, females who used to be warriors, hunters, and smiths have become pretty disgruntled.
19: Oh yeah, Tbana is watching this woman like a starving hawk. Tbana used to be the chief of the Salt-Fangs and now that this arrogant upstart has taken her old position she has been worried about what might be happening to her people under this new "Queen".
20: Gender relations has probably been one of the thorniest issues under the new united Savannah Kingdom. During their rebellion against the elves, the shortage of warriors often meant that adult males were sent to fight and female children were used for domestic tasks in war camps.

Getting a very Krogan-esque vibe from those Gnolls...

TheHook1 In reply to CaptainPrower [2018-11-11 15:37:08 +0000 UTC]
If anything they're almost anti-Krogan: Females are warriors, males handle domestic tasks, and when fighting the only goal is to win, honor and fairness be damned.

Of course I'll see to making more race designs, but for the sake of curiosity, which ones suit your fancy?
Just asking before putting them up for adoption.

More designs as in more races? Or more designs as in more examples of these races? Cuz if it's the former, as I've said before, I do have some character ideas for the Cyberzons if you're interested
If I had to choose just one, I'd most likely say number five
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
TipsyRa1d3n In reply to HayabusaAscendant [2018-11-11 16:52:11 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it's more races that I still have yet to draw! Which means I may indeed do the Cyberzons.
Although first I need an idea of how to design them!
ALSO...kinda thinking, if you want, you can perhaps adopt more than one! A few other of my watchers are prolly gonna do that anyway. ^^

I'm not sure on designs, but since the Cyberzon Imperium is effectively the FantasTech equivalent of the Grineer, I can just send you the official designs of certain key characters and you can figure out how to translate them if you'd like?
I think out of these lot, probably just number five, since Poet seems interested in the only other one that really takes my fancy, are you gonna be charging anything for them? Or are these adoptables free?

Mmmm....I think they'll be for free! There's gonna be plenty more to come anyway.
Sooo, number five it is!
In any case, do send me the designs, and just a very short summary of their character to include in their description.

Following the current rule, I only included five characters, but if you want, feel free to include K'uul too, but this list consists of the five most prominent figures in the Cyberzon Imperium
The Worm Queen - cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/i… cdna.artstation.com/p/assets/i… - The reigning Monarch and absolute ruler of the Cyberzon Imperium, this bratty, arrogant, Naga like cyborg is one of if not THE most tyrannical rulers of the modern era, anyone who displeases her in the slightest is grounded up into a protein slurry or shredded for filling in a delicious, gamy meat pie, only her most loyal, high ranking subjects are spared the full brunt of her wrath, but this won't always save them from an undesirable fate
Lady Kela De Thaym - vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/wa… - Lady De Thaym is the Imperium's mega celebrity, Overseer and host of the Rathuum executions and ruler of Merrow, her sick obsession with the brutal torture of the enemies of the Cyberzon Imperium have earned her the nickname "The Duchess of Death", and while her charismatic persona may paint her in a slightly fairer light, you do NOT want a first hand demonstration of why she not only deserves that nickname, but constantly makes it her own
Lord Skuul Brakktus - sta.sh/2nqkk4bglav - Tasked with exterminating the mysterious, magically corrupted beings known as the Diabolus, Skuul is a decorated warrior with many victories under his belt due to his unique (among the Imperium) battle tactics and strategies, respected by both the Imperium and the outside world, one look at his skills on the battlefield will show you he deserves his place as the Worm Queen's right hand and personal enforcer, regarded as the reincarnation of Veytok, a Cyberzon warrior who singlehandedly slain a Sea Serpent, Skuul lives solely to serve his Queen and expand her iron grip over Cauldron
Legatus Katra Nok - sta.sh/21bspn8b3wlj - The supreme commander of the Cyberzon Imperium's military forces, Katra Nok is tasked with ensuring the Imperium's domination of all under their oppressive jackboot, she has led several major battles for the Imperium and has conquered a good few Kingdoms, bringing them under the Worm Queen's absolute authority, considered by many to be the "face" of the Imperium, some of Cauldron's greatest warriors both respect and fear her
Tyl Regor - Warframe-Tyl Regor - The legendary geneticist responsible for creating and maintaining the gene molds that form the grunts and cannon fodder of the Cyberzon Imperium legions, Regor is a quiet man who mainly resides in his fortress known as The Locker, which only just pokes out of The Queen's Fury, giving no indication of its true size and majesty, while little is known about him, he has earned considerable favour with both the Worm Queen, and Skuul Brakktus, the latter of which he considers a close friend, almost like a brother, the two have worked together numerous times in projects to advance the Queen's goals, including a project known only as "Beautiful"...
Some extra info about them, Kela De Thaym would be both extremely muscular and quite tall, about fifty percent taller then Katra Nok, the second tallest character, Katra would also be extremely muscular, and have knee length, flowing, ginger hair, and Skuul would have a simple, un-muscular build like a normal human, unfitting of his race, he's also fairly short, not as short as say Hex and the Menehune, about the size of a short human woman
Hope these are okay, dude, lemme know if you need anything else, and I'll get to work on Hex's Gems

To adopt a character, would I need to pay any money? Because there are a few here I could use for stories. Though I can't draw them, so you'd still get free reign over the visual representation as long as it is consistent with the character I make from it.
Numbers 9, 10, and 16 especially seem like ones I could use. Though if it will cost money, I'm fine with just seeing how others might use them instead. I don't have a birdfolk or gnoll character yet. Though a gnoll would have to go through first to verify that the character is consistent with the lore and such. So birdfolk is the better choice imo.
All of these characters are great and even the little bits of info on them shows great potential. Nice work!

You know, I don't think so! It'll likely be a free, first-come first-serve kind of thing. Mostly because I can afford to give away free characters, what with how many more of these I'm hoping to make.
In which case, consider 9, 10 and 16 yours!
I shall mark your choice into the description, and I'm so glad you enjoyed them all so far!

Great! Though now I have 3 more stories to add to my To-Write-Stories-For list. I like doing them, so it only seems like work BEFORE I start writing them.
I'll think up names for them right now so I don't just keep using a number to refer to them.
9: Cheriti- Sometimes called "Cherry" because of her unusual name, she tries her best to aid anyone she has been taught(by the church) to help. This leads to the occasional person taking advantage of her giving nature. Her friends are usually there to steer her in the right direction and explain why she should be less strictly-adherent to her faith. "Religion is a set of guidelines to live by, not the only path through life." She has been told variations of this lesson time and again, but remains generous to a fault. In a way, that is her own idea of being true to herself, religion aside. She would be a giving person even without the church teaching to be.
10: Fortida- Though many consider her to be obsessed, violent, and rude, she remains a devout believer in Ziz. Her perception of His teachings make her aware of her imperfections and accepting of them. She knows her methods are brutal, she knows her attitude is shunned in the church, she knows people don't like her. But this is her burden to bear. The burden of the one who does what others will not. She thinks of herself as a tool for enforcing judgement, not a weapon for exacting vengeance. And she will take all the unkind words in stride with not a single thought of retribution. She is not wrath, she is courage. The Serpent's Bane, Fortida!
16: I might have to ask for a good name since it seems like has a good way of naming gnoll characters. I think the description you put is good enough for now.

For gnoll names I just look up names and words in West African languages, and then make up a name that sounds like that. Yoruba is a personal favorite for inspiration

Poke-Poet4 In reply to TheHook1 [2018-11-12 00:26:31 +0000 UTC]
Alright, I chose a name. Isoken. It is a Yoruba girl's name that means "One who is contented with her destiny". I plan to use that to mean her parents thought they'd end up with another son, but it turned out to be a girl, thus she is likely to live a better life in Gnoll society. But when her magic manifested, it gave her name's meaning a secondary interpretation. Because she is happy that she will be able to use magic to protect her clan with the others. Magic is what makes the Bitter-Tongues Clan able to thrive instead of simply survive, right?
(It's also easy to remember. )

Poke-Poet4 In reply to TheHook1 [2018-11-11 20:56:35 +0000 UTC]
I meant once i start building off of the existing info of her. If I made a story where she did something that no gnoll would ever do or couldn't do and didn't give a valid reason for how it could be plausible, then it would be defying the canon you've set up for them. Just like how the Florina wouldn't go to war, they'd only defend and set non-lethal traps to protect themselves and their loved ones. If someone made a character of that race and said they were a hardened warrior yet didn't indicate any separation from the existing canon, I'd try to get them to at least declare it as non-canon. Otherwise people might get it confused with the actual attitude of the Florina.
Though if I were to use 16, I'd probably have her become friends with Marina, yet decide not to touch the Dark Arts. She'd probably be a bit hesitant to trust her at first, but have her life get saved by one of Marina's spells. Though she'd still hold her beliefs and culture strongly despite that. After all, Artemisa refuses to fight, but her best friend is sure that when the day comes where she MUST kill an enemy, she won't regret the decision to do so. Conflicting beliefs and personalities shouldn't get in the way of friendship. Accepting those who think differently is one step on the path to a more understanding world.

TheHook1 In reply to Poke-Poet4 [2018-11-11 22:50:15 +0000 UTC]
Oh, I understand.
And I like what you’re doing with #16. It makes sense that she would try to convince Marina to kill her opponents. In her gnoll-centric worldview, that means fewer enemies to fight later and less chance of intel about you and your people leaking out.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Poke-Poet4 In reply to TheHook1 [2018-11-12 00:07:18 +0000 UTC]
Marina is the Necromancer, Artemisa is not connected to her(yet). Artemisa's best friend is Tiffany, a Vulpin who is all about survival instinct when her usual cleverness isn't enough. Sorry if my characters are getting confusing. Tiffany is the only one that I still haven't done a deviation for. Excluding the 3 new characters I have now.
Btw, I want to have this gnoll girl be named appropriately. What name might fit her? You seem to have a good naming scheme going on so far.

Wait, so who is friends with who?
I responded to your comment on Tipsy's status post, but in case you didn't see it I basically just looked for words and names in West African languages, then made up gnoll words that sound like them. Yoruba is my favorite.

I saw that reply, it was the next one in my messages list. So I'll just let you read my response to that.
These are the current/soon-to-be relationships between my characters(other characters involved as well, but not listed because I don't own them):
Friendships:
Artemisa's friends = Tiffany, Delilah
Delilah's friends = Tiffany, Artemisa, Melly, Kenton
Tiffany's friends = Delilah, Artemisa
Marina's friends = Isoken(soon), Cheriti(soon)
Melly's friends = Delilah, Laura, Daisy
Daisy's friends = Melly, Laura
Laura's friends = Daisy, Melly
Hilda's friends = Kenton
Lucille's friends = Kiki, Mariah(soon)
Kiki's friends = Lucille, Mariah(soon)
Mariah's friends = Lucille(soon), Kiki(soon)
Lukar's friends = Kenton, Chadric
Couples:
Delilah + Lukar
Sorry if I missed any. I only used main characters for the beginning parts. Some of their friends and families are side characters. Didn't put a Family section because a lot of them are still unnamed, if even mentioned at all. Chadric was literally only mentioned once. He is literally just a guy who works with Lukar occasionally though.
