Description
*credit to gadreel for the still life stock: [link] *I'll say it again, this is just a collection of thoughts about color and light that I was thinking about today. I was doing a bunch of color studies and decided just to share some of the stuff I've been thinking about...
This is no. 1 of my inner monologue of useless not-tutorials entitled "Tricks To Make It Look Like You Know What You're Doing."
I will ACTUALLY do some art soon, really, as soon as I solve this paint tool sai problem.

Very good, you say its not a tutorial but I found it rather useful in that aspect, you've taught me more than my Art teacher!
P.S.
at the end you miss-spelled Sticking you wrote "Stiking"
don't want to seem like a 'knowitall' I just like to offer help in any way I can.

THANK YOU for pointing out the type-o, it's not offensive at all I always feel like a tool when I miss errors.
I would fix it right this second, but I lost the file! oh well, it is unwise to try to be perfect, so I've been told

This is genius... Especially the war light>cold shadows or vice versa. I never got that before! I have a set of cool grey and warm grey markers, but I never really knew how to use them the right way. This is going to help me so much.. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

I've never noticed that about the first part (shadows) before. Or more like, I can't really see it yet. I hope I can train myself!
Really useful insights. Thanks so much for sharing!

This is indeed very helpful, thank you so much for posting this! Now I finally know what I did do wrong before when it came to light and shadow.
I already knew something about the theory in black and white, but I've always have had problems when it comes to colors. Thanks again.

Do I understand it correctly that in the section a note on saturation. You mean that to get a good scale for shadows you first put it back to grey and then go down to the shadow color you want/need?
This is all very interesting and I'm definitely going to try it out

Oh man, when I read 'Combining Value and Hue', that totally blew my mind. I never even though about doing it that way! I barely know anything about painting as it is, digitally or otherwise, but this was really interesting to me! I'm going to start looking around my environment to do some studies for myself. Thank you so much for the helpful tips!
