Description
*credit to gadreel for the still life stock: [link] *I'll say it again, this is just a collection of thoughts about color and light that I was thinking about today. I was doing a bunch of color studies and decided just to share some of the stuff I've been thinking about...
This is no. 1 of my inner monologue of useless not-tutorials entitled "Tricks To Make It Look Like You Know What You're Doing."
I will ACTUALLY do some art soon, really, as soon as I solve this paint tool sai problem.

IT'S SO OMEGA USEFUL.
I noticed, that there is a huge difference between the colours I use and the colours some really awesome artists choose. I often wondered, how can it be?
Now everythingis much more clear~ Thank You so much!

(Okay, so this isn't a true tutorial, but it's easier for me if I just put it in my tuts collection. ;] )
Thanks, this really helps me! I really need to touch up on theory and color and everything. D:

This is an amazing condensed version of an art textbook on color theory!! I think each and every single thing you pointed out here REALLY helped me understand things. Thanks so much for putting this up!

I love it! Thank you! I'm not nearly playful enough with my art, and so my learning curve when it comes to color and light/shadow kind of peaks and valleys inconsistently. haha. This is the kind of thing, though, that gives me a new way to look at concepts and improves my understanding because of it. Tra-LA. haha. Really, thanky for jotting down these notes, hun. They're wonderful!
Oh, and I'm about ready to eat your last portrait doodle. It = fabulous. lol

Wow! This is eye-opening! Thank you for churning out a "not-tutorial" of elementary-level factoids for self-taught folks like myself! Wonderful work--it's certain to help my coloring.

That's awesome, I knew this but I never really put it into practice since I experiment alot, its good to see it all written down, it encourages my mind to stick to what it knows and improve on it since I can barely, if at all, pull it off now. XP Haha XD Not that its not good to experiment though...
If any of that made sense. XD

Wow, that was neat. C:
Also, the saturated face, the top one, looks sad. I think you did that on purpose. Don't know.
I hope to take an art class this year, but highschool art isn't always so... Deep. Still, it's a start.

You know...I woke up this morning and thought about finding some tutorials on general art techniques. I've never had an art class before so I'm kind of lacking on a lot of basic knowledge.
Anyway, I randomly stumbled across a great set of tutorials another artist has on their website and now I get this!
I'm certain that the universe responds to my will. Perhaps I will ask it to give me super powers.
Seriously though, great tutorial and very useful for idiots like myself who are just now getting their shit together

Great help, so glad its not another step-by-step tutorial. Those annoy me and they never teach people how to make their OWN style. I've always had trouble with light and shadow when dealing with colors, so this is a great guide for me.
Thanks for taking the time to do this!

A really good tutorial on making more vibrant art works. I always have problems with getting a good skin palette without using references. This is a great tool for me too learn to be more independent in making colour choices.

Ahaha, you flatter me too much. I have a very limited and unoriginal skin palette. I reference heavily especially from Jo Chen, agasang.org and . These are my true masters!
I'm looking forward to working on skin more independently.
