just for comparison with the royal tomcat elsewhere in my gallery. this was the official original aircrew patch,and every squadron in the US Navy had their own version. for example-VF-84 "Jolly Rogers" featured the 2-tailed cat dressed as a pirate along with appropriate variations for other Navy units,also the only foreign customer{Iran}had the cat in a persian costume,nicknamed "Ali-Cat} Anytime,Baby!Related content

the aircraft has 2 vertical fins,so it was just the natural thing to do! it also carries a 20mm gatling gun[100 rounds per SECOND rate of fire]hence the 6-gun on his belt. Grumman produced a line of naval fighters beginning back in 1939 with the F4F Wildcat that all had feline titles,Tomcat will probably be the last of the breed! gone from service now,but will not be forgotten for a gooood long time!
