For my tutorials I usually use the PRT SCR button to make the pictures as I want people to see what I am seeing on my screen, and usually this is important. This comic is styled like one of my tutorials so basically, I've done it in a similar style. So in cases like these it's a deliberate choice to leave the grid in the picture.
