Description
Sitting around a campfire and telling ghost stories is a long standing tradition for summer-time. Working along that theme I thought it might be fun to introduce one method on how to create your own ghosts using MMD and a graphics application like Photoshop.Credits are in the panel - DO NOT ASK FOR MODEL LINKS

Thanks. I try my best in every render. The tutorial really helped. The only thing that ruined the image is the sushi which stuk out of the bowl. I tried to mask it in photoshop and then blur the rest to make it sort of natural but it was really hard.

I hate masking in Photoshop (or any other application for that matter). Almost always a big pain.

Hmmm ... thanks for the link to the ghost effect, but ... it just makes the model transparent kind of like hitting the "V" key. Doesn't look quite right, the model loses all definition.

Hmm... that's what I was trying to figure out somehow, there's also the hologram effect. Since those are still less than v1.0, it's expected to have bugs. I guess I should wait a while.

For some of these "SpecialFX" you might be able to replicate with better results with either an external application, like I did here with Photoshop. If it's a video, some of the more advanced video editors might be put to use.
Personally, I tend to avoid funky effects. I'm quite happy with the existing varieties of shaders and special lighting tweak effects plus the global shaders and environmental controllers.

Personally, though, I can't use video editors due to my current specs, so my creations are all straight from MMD without post-processing, I have gotten used to doing such so it's quite convenient. I also find it fun to go and test out things from time to time and figure new things out in MMD.
Although that's not saying I don't use video editors, but those are for when MMD can't do what I need, or when I need to work with other kinds of videos (such as live-action, I had a few class projects this year and the last, I was in charge of tech aspect).
For an example, I use Object and Cross Luminous here to create a transparent-ish effect [link] and while doing that, if you look at Miku's wings, it's something I accidentally discovered. Since I can't do heavy external editing, it's given me some chances to have some fun with MMD.
Although I do agree with you since on some aspects, external programs are more convenient, my MMD videos use a video editor to do things otherwise impossible inside MMD.

I saw an effect too but it was kinda bloody and only made it transparent, I mean not glowy and beautiful like in this pic *-*
But I think I will use that effect~ :3

I was ot aware that there is a ghost MME, but then again, there are so many effects out there nowadays and I tend only to download the ones I know I'll use.

Yup, there are tons of MME out there. Some of them require some knowledge to use them. :b
Still it can be sometimes a little headache when the manual instruction of an MME is in Jp since I can't really read Jp.
I use google translate for it most of the time. Even so, some MME can be hard to learn like the MME "partical creator" and "path maker".
Both of them are extremely useful.

Heck, I don't even order pizza online. What's so hard about popping over to my local pizza place down the street and hobnobbing with the owner whilst it cooks. Nothing beats the feel of a warm pizza box in your hands on a chilly evening. Just the aroma alone is to die for. Tastes so much better when you finally get home to eat it.

XD For the longest time, I thought I might've had one because I could eat and eat and seemingly not gain any weight. I've been losing weight a lot lately, so i need to fatten up again. Seriously, pants that fit me one week now require a belt.
