At the end in the FAQ you said anyone without a tablet cannot do the lineart from tutorial one...
I think you forgot about the pen tool. It would take alot longer, but hey. Its been done.

Very detailed and helpful. I didn't know about the 'flow' function of brushes before this.

You *can* get the same effects with a mouse, actually. That's all I use.
I do want to try a tablet one day... I had a wacom, but I think it was too small for me to get used to it, and I'm sooo used to drawing with my mouse now.
Regardless, I love your work! Very awesome!

Awesome tutorial...but question, why is it when I put my lineart on lock then edit>fill...etc.,It comes out completely covered up?
π: 0 β©: 1
twisted666 In reply to Silver-Strife-Angel [2006-12-15 14:55:19 +0000 UTC]
The whole layer is filled to begin with, so if you fill it, it will fill the whole layer. The white areas only appear "transparent" because of the Multiply setting.

so what makes the lines smoothy with tapered ends is a program comes with the tablet, and not someone's techniques or talent...oh okay, i got it...who am i kidding?!
anyways you are a sweetheart with lots of potentials...i like your gallery and your tutorials and sure will sleep over your place just to learn from u

You need to adjust the settings so the tablet pen works like a pencil. C:
Thank you so much! Good luck to the both of us!

I don't own a tablet I am doomed!
Maybe I should quit lineart all together? The best I could do is change the levels and curves of my pics Ahh, so much to remember!

Well... I myself don't ink digitally often.

Dasaru In reply to twisted666 [2006-07-02 04:55:57 +0000 UTC]
I can Ink my pictures and stuff, but when I scan it, it doesn't come out too well... And I can't seem to get good coloring. Could answer some questions for me? It would be very helpful!
1. How do you set different parts into different layers? Like the Hair. How would you keep the hair in one layer, so when you paint the hair, it doesn't bleed into other areas? The way I do it is just select all the hair, and then put it into it's own layer by itself, but somehow I think your method is easier :/
2. So if you ink your work and you scan at 150 dpi (or whatever that means), how much editing do you do to your lineart?
3. How do you color so well? Maybe I just suck?

twisted666 In reply to Dasaru [2006-07-02 07:20:16 +0000 UTC]
1. That's what I do, I think.
2. I scan it at 300 DPI now. (This tutorial is quite old.) I edit it depending on how dirty it is...
3. o___O Practice, you can do it! Go go go!

Dasaru In reply to twisted666 [2006-07-02 08:19:37 +0000 UTC]
ehh? Could you repeat your answer to question 1. I don't get it >.< Should I create a new duplicate layer for the hair (and other object), or should it be a layer with JUST the hair?
π: 0 β©: 1
twisted666 In reply to Dasaru [2006-07-02 13:06:01 +0000 UTC]
It's up to you, really. I would do the layer with just hair.
π: 0 β©: 1
Dasaru In reply to twisted666 [2006-07-02 22:31:32 +0000 UTC]
That's what I did with one of my pictures, but how do you get the hair in it's own layer? Do you select all of the hair manually?

Your tutorials are amazing, I've been looking for some good ones to help me because I recently got a tablet, and wanted to get more familiar with photoshop. I'm wondering, and I don't know if this question was asked already, and I'm sorry if it was, but how do I change the pressure sensativity on my tablet?
Great job!
And lovely artwork to boot!
!!

Try to find it in your tablet's manual. If the settings are right, open Photoshop CS and press F5... Check the options you need.
