I don't how you change the lineart color T.T It's really awesome, but can you explain how you change the lineart to brown a little more? please?

Okay, uhm... Once you have the lineart on a separate layer, activate the Lock Transparent Layers layer option. Then, (there are other ways, but to be sure) choose Image --> Adjustments --> Hue/Saturation, and then, check Colorize, and then tweak the Hue.

Ah! Amazing tutorial! ^^ It's very easy to follow and what-not. ^^ I use Photoshop 6, so some of the features used are unavailable to me. Ah well, that's okay; a lot of the techniques can be easily translated. ^^

...I think I've found a better way to shade stuff now. I've always been using the Gaussian blur for skin and clothes, but thanks to this tutorial, I can now use... MULTIPLY! Ah-haha! ^___^ All hail you and your Photoshop know-how! Yes yes! ^^

I gotta say this is a thoughtful tutorial here, I like to see how other's work. Nover occured to me to make the Lineart layer multipy. I dont have as many optioons though that you have mentioned here, I have photoshop Five so I cant lock layers...and I KNOW I dont have a flow option, but other than that it all looks pretty much the same. ^__^

And thank you for the advice and how to avoid squigglyness, I've been wondering about that too and it baffled me so much how it looked to clean when other people used it. O___o I was beggining to think you'd have to use vector. -___-

thankyou thank you

Jadey-Chan [2005-10-06 22:32:10 +0000 UTC]

The tutorial is very helpful and explainitory. I love how you shade! *3* It's so soft and smooth! <33

But I.. am still somewhat confused.. ;-; The tutorial was great and I think I understood most of it, but somehow I'm just not getting something.. I'll try to explain it to the best of my abilities. Which isn't much.. xD ::

Anyyyway.. When I tried CGing just now, the color would overlap the lineart and "erase" it. Are you suppose to lower the opacity or am I just doing something wrong layer wise? *feels stupid*
I probably have more questions bouncing around in my head but I just can't seem to think of them all right now.

I think it has something to do with the opacity and flow, but I'm not exactly sure.
Or do my problems have to do with the fact that my Adobe is 8.0 and not CS??
I just got Adobe 8.0 so I'm new at this. I'm truly an Open Canvas user at heart. x3

Thanks in advance for any help you can give! <33

twisted666 In reply to Jadey-Chan [2005-10-07 09:11:23 +0000 UTC]

Ah, thank you! Let's see... Either you have created a layer on top of the Lineart (you could drag it so that it is below the Lineart) or you colored over the Lineart layer itself (some people do this, but it is not what I did in the tutorial). Feel free to get back to me if you remember any of your other questions.

Well, Photoshop CS is Photoshop 8.0! I want CS2... (That's Photoshop 9.0)

I'll pay more attention to see what I'm doing wrong then. Thank you for the help!

Ohh! I thought they were all different. Teehee, just goes to show how much I don't know. Too bad my Adobe is temporary. ;-; I think it's a trial or something.

You might have already been asked this queastion, but it is alright to use intuos3 for your tutorials? I'm probly getting a intuos3 and I was just wondering if I could use your tutorials still because there pretty darn easy to understand. Oh and these are wonderful...I sent your link to my friends and they were soooo glad. I can wait to use a tablet of my own. ^^

you can kinda mimic the lineart from a tablet if you only use a mouse. you just have to use the pen tool.

I'm an American and didnt notice anything wrong with your english o-O sooo who knows, eh?

twisted666 In reply to catscradler [2005-10-07 11:47:26 +0000 UTC]

I find it hard to use pen tool. ^___^ To each his own! I mean, you can't to it this way -- using brush tool -- by using your mouse.

I've just read this ... and one of the FAQ questions; about the Dynamics thing: I'm assuming the person means Shape Dynamics or Other Dynamics, two options in the Brushes palette. It's mostly for tablet users, to define whether the line goes thicker and/or darker when you press harder, or not.

But maybe you already know this anyway.

Oh, and you're saying you made all the inking using a regular round brush and erased all over the edges to make it very in width? You have such patience.

And Photoshop 7 would be able to do this also. Lots of the differences between CS and 7 are for photo manipulation shtuff.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

twisted666 In reply to aneesah [2005-10-05 10:45:59 +0000 UTC]

Ah! That dynamics! *bangs head on wall* Well, it's usually set on by default, so I didn't bother with it... Thank you ne! No, I use pressure-sensitive pen. *not that patient* Yes, I guess this is also applicatble for PS7, but one commenter said I should specify... .___. Well, just to be sure ne!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aneesah In reply to twisted666 [2005-10-06 05:30:07 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I mean -- when you use a tablet, then you could make the line widths vary according to the pressure, right? I assumed you didn't do that since you mentioned you used the eraser for tapering the lines...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

twisted666 In reply to aneesah [2005-10-07 09:35:31 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I do use pressure, but sometimes the curves don't come out right so I have to use eraser to make them look cleaner.

aneesah In reply to twisted666 [2005-10-07 13:44:05 +0000 UTC]

My question for you is, well... how long did it take for you to figure out your technique and start applying it to all your drawings?? And WOW, I envy you for making all these bishie men. I can't draw men for my life... xD Too angular for my poor left hand... x3
