Description
This is the first hand-held weapon I've ever modeled or designed, although certainly not the first prop. It's been fun to think a somewhat in-depth about what the various bits and pieces are there for. I'm still planning to bake this down to a low-poly mesh for textures and UE3 import eventually, although I'll probably take a couple days break from it to work on something else for a brief change of pace. Thanks for looking! As promised, I've updated with more angles (including FPV) and made some minor geometry adjustments.
4 days of work in 3DS MAX 2008.
162,027 triangles on working mesh.
651,690 triangles for render.

That thing people say about reality being stranger than fiction? It's true, and never in the ways you would expect.

Call your lawyer. Someone needs to part with a six-figure sum for copyright infringement.

Thanks man! I've actually got the low poly all baked out now finally, and I have to say it looks pretty damn good in UE3. I'm currently working on the textures and once I have those done I'll put up some screen caps and maybe a turnaround if I can set up some video capture.

You prefer working with triangles instead of quads?

Nah, I definitely work in quads as much as possible. But triangle count is a more reliable method of measuring performance cost than polycount.

Really nice Highpoly, though some edges especially on the magazine seem a little bit to tight/vertical for a nice bake.
Nonetheless nice work

Thanks! Yeah, you're right. I didn't really notice it while working because of being so zoomed in for most of the time. I'm definitely planning to bake it down to a low-poly though, so I'll take a stab at softening up some of those edges.

I am not a pro guns/violence type of person, but look at the detail in that!

Thanks! I tried to make it seem really authentic in terms of being a piece of machinery that you could disassemble for maintenance and stuff, rather than being one solid chunk that was pressed out of a mold.

Well, I was as usual, impressed with the amount of work you put towards it.
