Tablets cost around 80-500 Dollars, u.s. money. mine cost 100$ and its an excellent tablet C: you can usually find them in computer stores, like compUSA or best buy, maybe even staples :0

Thank You for making this tutorial!
[I think we can use it without the tablet, tracing the lineart drawed and scanned before]

hmmm....you could try going to the windows tab, and seeing if they have a "brushes" section or something related to that on there :0
otherwise, i dont know if photoshop elements has a brush thing >: i havent used anything below photoshop 7.0, so i really couldnt tell you DD:: i hope you find it though, it would be a shame if elements didnt have the brush section :/

ohhhhhh crap. I don't have a tablet thingy. I would go off swearing in real life, but reading the whole thing, it sounded simple and easy to follow...until I realized what a tablet actually WAS.
Well, anyway, now to see how much a tablet costs.

Really usefull tutorial.
Just one note. I don't see what's the point in giving a texture to the brush, uh maybe it's just me with my cheap 20$ tablet, but if use the brush with the texture it gets uhm "crispy" and sometimes the line breaks (to dots or smaller lines) even if the spacing is set to 1%. Without it I get a much smoother result. But anyways it may be just my tablet, thank you for the tutorial!

Andoledius In reply to martono [2006-10-21 16:25:59 +0000 UTC]
it might just be your tablet .__. for me, the texture gives the line a more sharpened look when it tapers off, rather than a blurry one what kind of tablet do you have? It might also do that if you have any other brush settings that could possibly interfere with the texture xD;

martono In reply to Andoledius [2006-10-21 23:07:05 +0000 UTC]
I've got a medion a4 tablet [link]
I used same brush settings. It may be because of the 512 pressure sensitivity, and it's not that accurate as a wacom.

Awesome tutorial. I'm practicing using it right now. My linart skills have always been horrible. I feel stupid asking this though, like I'm coming back whining to you, but is there a pressure sensitivity option on photoshop? No matter the setting on my tablet settings, it always comes out as bold as possible...
Also, pretty picture

yeah, im afraid your lines wont look right unless you have a tablet ^^ Basically, its a drawing pad you hook up to your computer, it works like a mouse but you have a pen instead.
for more information, go here:[link] it tells you all about a tablet, and what it can do ^^ the main keypoint in my tutorial is a tablet BECAUSE of the pressure sensitivity, without that the lineart wont come out right :/
So basically, you probably arent doing anything wrong, you just dont have a tablet, which i think is why the lines arent coming out right
